i need help

so I just got my bearded dragon, I've never had one before, when I first got him from the pet store everything was fine I was holding him he laid on my chest and crawled around a bit while me and my mom got his tank put together, I put him in there and now he won't let me take him out, everytime I tried to pet him or hold him he jumps away and his sides puff up a bit. I really just don't know what to do

Hi there!

He was probably tolerating the handeling because you're warm, and of course that's what beardies love!! Bearded dragons normally don't come to you tame, unless they came from a professional breeder who tamed them or they are tamed adults from previous homes. You're really supposed to give them a couple days, about a week, to take a breather and get used to all of the new things around them. It's scary for them to move to a completely new environment with new faces! Just give it time, and try to start taming once he's been with you for a handful of days.
