My beardy is going through what I thought was brumation because this year we have had crazy cold weather. Anyways I started to notice that I can now see his bones more and more each passing week. He won't eat but he will still lap water. He has some black on his back and under his beard and we have no reptile vet near us. We have a local co-op that has meds if i need to get him some kind of them. He has a heat lamp and he ate just fine prior to his sleep. He can move around if I make him wake up with warm water but just look at my poor baby I don't know what else I can do to help him. He is 6 years old. Please and thank you!

Poor guy definitely looks quite sick. It's good that he is lapping up water. Keep offering water from baths and by dripping some on his nose. Try to keep him as well hydrated as you can. If he isn't eating on his own, pick up some baby food and try offering that to him via dropper or plastic syringe. I've had good luck with squash, green beans, and sweet potato baby foods. If you can get him to eat a bit of that it should help give him some energy.

What do you have in place for lighting? Is he getting a good amount of UVB?

I'll keep giving him water and I'll have my husband grab some baby food tonight when he gets off work and try that! He has a good uvb, it stays around 100 at all times. Fluctuating to 90 when it's snowing.

Baby food definitely helps with any bearded dragon. :) also try the carrots. I also blend mixed greens with broccoli in a blender and give it to my bearded dragons through a syringe.

I have given him puree greens and carrots I had here before my husband gets off, he took half of a syringe. How much more should I give him? He is now refusing to open his mouth so do I have to force it open?

Hello,

Poor guy, he does look thin. Continue to try to get food into him, slowly. You can break the feedings up into several small ones during the day. You can carefully open his mouth with a swab from the side, to try & get some food into him if possible.

Let us know how he is doing.

Today he seems better! His stomach looks fuller and he is now willingly letting me syringe feed him. I'm thinking he was just dehydrated maybe? I give him water in a bowl and he normally laps it, but what would be a good water dropper so that he can actually sense the water is there to drink? I'll update more later

Dragon vb, that's good to hear . :) Keep that up and he'll get hydration from the baby food/syringe feeding. Plus you can offer a little extra water that way 2-3X a week.

Carol, can you start your own thread that people can reply to ? That way it won't get mixed up with the treatment of this dragon.

I have no clue how to do that I am not fond of computer things lol can you please explain.
Perfect then I'll keep that up until he is back to eating his normal foods and such. I'll keep updated in case something else happens but so far he seems a little better!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
