hello all, I love bearded dragons as much as the next guy, but I have so many now. I have been raising hatchlings and I want to keep them all. but reality says no. I have exhausted the reptile stores around Tucson, AZ. with my first clutch. but I have 8 to get rid of and im out of ideas. did typical craigslist and facebook. but no success. im not looking to make a profit but just to break even. so what im asking does anyone have ideas on how to sell them. worst case scenario I give them to the reptile rescue here in town. They are more than happy to take them. They are nothing fancy, my female is yellow with some purple stripes and the male has red ears and red spots down his back, these guys are pretty awesome too. anyways some advice would be great!!!! thanks all

I have bred tortoises.

#1. You will never make a profit.

#2. Don't breed a reptile that is not special when they are already bred way too often and are way too available.

#3. Just freeze the fertile eggs to cause them to not grow and then discard them. It won't hurt them and it isn't mean.

to phoenix76, first of all know your facts before you open your mouth, im not in it for the money. so don't go there. second I know about over breeding and I think even the "special" ones should not due to that issue. And third I froze the last clutch for that reason. I wanted to let my children experience the miracle of life, not to make money. And they learned a valuable lesion, how to be there for something that is completely helpless, and they learned well. so thanks for your unnecessary comments.

You may have luck in the for sale section here or by taking out ads on other forums such as faunaclassified. You might find you are met with similar criticism though, the community isn't always kind when it comes to having unwanted animals. I do sympathize with the situation, I'm glad that you are trying to find them homes.

Can you keep them until you find more people to buy/take them? Leaving them at the rescue would tax their resources and many rescues are small and have small budgets - I doubt they actively want more babies. I wonder if maybe they can help put you in touch with people who are looking for a baby dragon. Also, many vets offices/post offices/grocery stores/hardware stores have bulletin boards and they may let you put an ad up.

There is a section on this board for free listings and it seems like most of the dragons find homes. You can ship reptiles and there are a few companies that can help you package them safely. Perhaps you could find someone who would pay the shipping so you aren't out it.

Good luck finding homes for them.

thanks taterbug, its sad I had good homes lined up for them all and most of them fell through. they found out how expensive a starter tank costs. and its not like I don't want them. I would love to have them all at pets. but me and the mrs. decided that were in this for the long haul. so yes diffently these guys are going to have good homes. or else im breaking out the ol' hammer and nails, and start on building enclosures. great advice, thanks

@goldenaz:
Sorry if my reply to your post offended you. I did not mean it like that. I was just sharing what I have learned.

Like Taterbug said, try posting them at vet offices and even pet shops. A lot of teachers look for class pets. You might find one willing to adopt one. Best of luck finding them homes.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
