Hello my bearded dragon had a 40 gallon tank and is 2 feet in length and was getting depressed because she could barely move around. I made her a spot on the floor in our living room where she has all her things and is always ar 100 degree temperarure and shes much happier being able to run around freely or jusr sleep all day in her area.i have a friend who owns them but never takes them out of tank and says im slowly torturing her if i dont have her in a cage that shes unhally in. Im wondering am i really torturing her to death or am i safe to have her in this setting that she loves so mucb shes only allowed in living room and it stays super clean

They don't have to be in a cage at all. They just need the heating at the right temp and uvb. As long as the house doesn't fall below 70 it should be fine. You should have perhaps another lamp nearby that is lower temp like around 85 so she has choices. Unless the basking area is quite large.

Ummm, are you saying that you should let your Beardie roam around your house/room?!?! I'm all for giving your Beardie MORE room, not A room. :? :? :?

I do this too. My dragon doesn't like being stuck in his tank very much so when I'm home he gets to roam freely. He has three portable basking lights set up around the house. 2 MegaRay MVBs for UVB and heat, and one halogen flood light for just heat.

This is a very important consideration. In my case there are no children or other animals in the house. I keep small things off the floor and areas he can get stuck/trapped are blocked off so the house is pretty much dragon proofed. If you can't provide a safe area like this, then they are better off in a tank, but as large of one that you can provide.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
