I can't answer all of your questions, I wish I could, but I don't know much about Australia' stores, but for the probe therometer, if you have a Walmart there they are usually cheap and reasonable, around $12to $20 US so that's about $12.04 to $21.00. Pet stores are too expensive

Hello there. I am sorry you are worried about your beardie. As previous posters have mentioned, even though you wanted brumation explained fully, we need to consider environmental issues as well. I think where you are you should be able to get the Arcadia TUBE bulb. Please don't get the coil bulb
And although 14 months old they can brumate, if I am not mistaking it is still Summer where you are? But with a cough, I am more worried about an Upper Respiratory infection (URI). The vets, if thats what they have, will give you an antibiotic to fight the infection. Too much humidity can cause the URI's. i hope you understand that people are trying to help you by asking all the questions that seem unrelated to brumation, but the bearded dragon's environment should be looked at first and foremost.
The article they have on here is great for it as well.
and yes I speak from experience dont get Desert 50 bulbs either

I found an Amazon in Australia for you. Here's the link to the Repti-Sun 10.0 fluorescent tube bulbs: http://www.amazingamazon.com.au/reptiles-melbourne-victoria-australia-for-sale/lizards-for-sale/lighting/uvb-lighting/repti-sun-10-0-24.html You want to make sure it's the tube bulb and NOT a coil or compact type.

These Arcadia bulbs are very good too: http://www.amazingamazon.com.au/reptiles-melbourne-victoria-australia-for-sale/lizards-for-sale/lighting/uvb-lighting/reptile-t5-uvb-globes.html

Here's a probe thermometer: http://www.amazingamazon.com.au/reptiles-melbourne-victoria-australia-for-sale/lizards-for-sale/thermostats-thermometers/exo-terra-digital-thermometer.html

This probe thermometer will give you basking & cool side temps at the same time: http://www.amazingamazon.com.au/dual-thermometer-digital-reptiles.html

This one will give one temp and humidity level: http://www.amazingamazon.com.au/reptile-thermometer-hygrometer.html

This is an infrared temp gun that will give you instant readings: http://www.amazingamazon.com.au/reptiles-melbourne-victoria-australia-for-sale/lizards-for-sale/thermostats-thermometers/zoo-med-repti-temp-infra-red-thermometer.html

The round gauges for humidity are fine, it's the round gauge (dial) thermometers that are way off in temperatures.

A ceramic heat emitter is for nighttime use but a white basking bulb should be used for daytime as it helps increase their activity level which in turn helps increase their appetites.

I'm glad you are going to take him to a vet to be checked out. You're right, coughing is certainly not normal and he may need to be put on an antibiotic. When you mist him, make sure you don't mist him while he's in his tank to help prevent the humidity from going up too high. How has his appetite been lately?

Thankyou munchkins9802 I understand about the questions. Its The start of Winter in Australia.

And diamc I had no idea we had an Amazon. PLus I thought tit was a bookstore. Lol. But thankyou so much for finding those links for me. You have no idea how much that helps. I will get right on buying the equipment today after class.
Im so grateful.

P.s. Does anybody know of something I can put on the outside of the glass tank to help keep the warmth in? I used 4 blankets last night trying to avoid the heat lamp and it never went above 30 degrees. An now its at 28!!!!!!!!1

I actually just took a chance and did a google search on Amazon in your area, I had no idea there was one either. I'm glad it helped you out. :D Great that you will be ordering from there.

Did you mean that last night the temp went down to 30 degrees celcius or did you mean farenheit? You can certainly use your ceramic heat emitter at night, no concerns there since they give off no light.

I just looked at the link for the bulbs..it says the tubes are 24"??? My canopy will only hold a normal sized bulb. And how long do they last?

Actually, you don't want the coil or compact UVB's that would fit into your clamp lamp because those are very dangerous to use for a beardie. I didn't realize that's the type you were using, I thought it was a Repti-Glo tube. If you check on that site, you should be able to find the strip hood that would house a 24" bulb though or you could go to an area like Lowe's, Home Depot or any department store and pick up a very reasonably priced standard fluorescent light that uses the same size bulb that you are going to get. Remove the plastic cover and the bulb that comes with it and pop in the UVB bulb but be sure to keep the plastic cover OFF.

I'll take a look at the site I gave you and see if I can find one.

If you got an 18" bulb, you could use this: http://www.amazingamazon.com.au/reptiles-melbourne-victoria-australia-for-sale/lizards-for-sale/lighting/light-fittings/aquarium-reflector-aqua-one-fish-tank-light.html

Here's a 24" one: http://www.amazingamazon.com.au/reptiles-melbourne-victoria-australia-for-sale/lizards-for-sale/lighting/light-fittings/aquarium-fish-tank-light.html

Or as I mentioned, you could get a standard fluorescent light at a dept or hardware store that will house the same size bulb that you're going to get.

Celcius. AND now its at 28. Its so cold, I cant keep heat in there :(

Relax :) At night it's actually good for the tank to cool down, you don't have to worry until the tank reaches 18 degrees at night (and I doubt your house ever gets that cold).

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
