I know this is kind of terrible, but I never handled Itchy really as a baby, and he's almost 2 now. He's only been taken out prior to now for bathing and terrarium cleaning purposes, and he's not really handled.
I want to try and start taking him out for little "romps" because he never sees anything but the inside of his cage, or the inside of the bathtub, you know?
Am I going to have problems with this, do you think? I know it's hard to say, because they're so individual, but I just wonder if he'll try and escape (he's a fast runner) or lash out. He's never bitten or gotten angry at anyone before this. Any concerns I should have and pay special attention to?

I doubt you'll have any problems... He may run to escape being put back. They like to explore and are often unhappy when its time to go back. I'd start out in a room where its safe to run around. I used my bathroom the first few times, because there is no where to hide. Nothing to get under/into, except the tub and sink. So even if he gets antsy and tries to run, you can still get him back fairly easily.

You can also try putting him on your shoulder!! They love those rides!! :D Good luck...
Careful if you have long hair... My sister had Smurf on her shoulder and he decided to taste her hair. Then he got his claws caught. :banghead: That was an interesting day. :blob5:

LoL also be careful if you have VERY little hair Misa thinks she can climb it and this usually ends up with a very scratched up neck :p

Keep in mind though that you'll want to keep a hand on him if he's on your shoulder in case he jumps! I know my dragon isn't the only one who likes to try to jump from high points. They don't seem to understand that they can't fly...

I'm working on taming Dax (3 years old) because I made the mistake of not handling him either. When I used to try, he'd get upset so I'd put him back - now I know I should have been persistent!

Good luck, and read up on some of the other posts that talk about taming; they have some great tips there.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
