...I got 2 for the price of one baby dragons from a breeder. They are clutchmates. They just hit a month old and I have looked very closely and strongly believe one is male and the other is female.

I have them in a really nice 55g tank with perfect temps.

Right now they are exactly one month old. They lay together all the time snuggling. I even have a pic of them "kissing" that I can post if anyone is interested. They both seem very happy and healthy, and they get along together great.

My only concern is what is going to happen when they get older and sex comes into play. I cannot afford another tank and I'd really rather not have to get rid of one. Will I need to have one neutered/spayed? Is that even possible? Since they are brother and sister will they even try to mate?

I hope someone can help shed some light on what is likely to come as they grow up together.

Hi. You need to separate them. Beardies are territorial and solitary. Yes I know they seem to be best buddies but when they snuggle or lick each other there is always one showing dominance. You can put a divider in the cage until they get a little older. Since they are male and female he can over breeder her and that's really going to cause her health issuses. No you can't get them fixed.

Damn, that really sucks to hear. I guess I could cut a piece of plexiglass and put it right down the middle of the tank to keep them separated. I'll have to buy another lamp and get lower watt bulbs to make sure each side has a cool side.

How long do you think I have to save up the cash to do this? I really don't want to have to choose one and get rid of it.

Probably a month or 2. Do you have a petco near you? If so I know that they have a sale on their tanks. A dollar a gallon. Thats how I got my 40gallon breeder or you can try Craigslist. I think the sale goes until the end of January. The lights I use a halogen flood bulb that I bought at home depot. They are way cheaper and last longer. The reptisun tube I order online from Amazon, dr foster smith or pet mountain. It took me a while to figure all this out after I'd spent a couple hundred at the petstore :evil:
