 Hey All! New beardie owner here. You can all call me dragonlady. I was dragonlady before I ever purchased a beardie. I have always been into dragons. So, it just occurred to me that the dragonlady should have a dragon. One day, I was in a pet store looking at their animals. I started to look at the reptile section..... Then this bearded dragon came running up to the glass. It was so happy, like a little puppy.
I then saw the geckos & I liked them as well. But I did some research into each type of lizard & found that beardies are the most fun. I truly cannot wait until I can take it outside. I am concerned about the gender because I read that the females can get laiden with eggs & if they don't breed or have the eggs extracted by a vet, they will die. Is this true? My beardie is too young to be able to tell what gender it is anyway.
I bought it a couple of days ago & have yet to see it eat. But it is very docile. It lets me pick it up & rub its head. Also, I can't come up with a neutral name that sounds cool, but goes well with either female or male. Any suggestions? I usually wait to see what kind of personality it has before naming it.
It is very cute! It is yellowish with really cool grey patterns on its head & back. It is about 2 inches long & two months old. That would make it a Christmas Eve 2006 beardie!!! Dragonlady

Hey Dragonlady!

Congrats on your baby - it's exciting isn't it? Ours is 6 1/2 weeks old and in the pics to the side and below! Is that the correct size -2"? Komode is just over 6" long top to tail.

You'll get heaps of great advice on here (not from me though - still have the 'L' plates on! ) they are all experienced owners so take it all on board - and enjoy your Dragon! :p

Hey, welcome!
It is in no way necessary to breed your female.
However, some females lay infertile eggs, but not all of them do. This may never come up. If it does, there is a small chance she will become eggbound, but if you suspect it (assuming this even occurs with her, if it's a her, and it doesn't happen to all females), you can get her a laying box and she should be able to lay the infertile eggs without resorting to a vet.

Hello and welcome to the board. It is possible for some females to lay infertile eggs once they are an adult even without a male around, but it doesn't always happen - and if it does it's not a risky procedure if you're aware of it ahead of time. Feel free to ask any questions you have - we're always happy to talk dragons :)

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
