I hope somebody has an answer

So I am beyong frustration with my beardie I dont even know what to think anymore. He hasnt eaten anything but two calcium worms in almost a week. He sleeps all day and I know the temps are fine and everything because I have gone over it a hundred times. I dont want to go to the vet because it is ridiculous what they charge for such minimal information. I highly doubt it parasites the only thing I have fed him was worms for a while now. I dont know if its brumating because he isnt old enough but I am not sure what else it could be. This will be the last time I ever buy one from Petsmart thats for sure. I just dont think he ever had the huge appetite others talk about but it was a lot more than this. He is about 15-16 inches long I can only guess he is around 6 months. I am hoping soebody can help me as this has become a huge frustration. The UVB is Reptisun the basking area is 100 and the other side is around 76-77. The UVB is definitely close enough. I bath him and everything but this is just how he has been acting for a while now. Any Help???

what are you using to measure your temps? what kind of theremometer?

I was using a zilla thermometer for both sides but now I am using acu rite I bought it from walmart

thats a great start! when did you buy the thermometer? is the probe at the highest basking spot?

yes I put it on the top of his basking rock I bought it actually two days ago. The other probe is where he lays on the cool side. Its driving me nuts I just cant really afforda vet appointment last time it cost me $200 and they wanted me to stick a syringe in his mouth well he wasnt having that at all its soo hard.

i can relate..i have a young beardie as well and he does not eat nearly as much as what others on here say theirs eats..it could be brumation. i think i head it is a myth that beardies have to be a certain age to go into brumation. have you tried looking at the brumation fact sheet on the tab care sheets and articles?

Yea I actually did read it it said it was very rare. But it also said if the beardie was born in the winter months or something it could happen. That could be the case but I am not too sure since he is soo young

yeah i know what you mean..where are you from? has it been raining a lot there or have the temps dropped quickly outside?

I live in northeast Pennsylvania and yes actually they have. He has been doing this before that but even then the humidity has droped a lot and when it was 90 there was no humidity so maybe he is feeling that change? Right now uts been very cool.

same here..i live in massachusetts and the nights are especially cool..soo im thinking it might be brumation because of these weather changes..keep us updated!

You must be going to the wrong vet., when we took SPAZZ, ours charged $45 for the vist, $15 for the shots [2], and $15 to teach us how to trim her nails[ polish was extra lol].
When we took LUCKY our resque to him he did a poop check [ she gave on his office table ] it was $75 with the nail trim!
He's realy good with them and he has a resque set up in the waiting room.

Unfortunately I don't have many vets around. It would have coated me 88 dollars for an examination I just think that's ridiculous. As an update he ate 5 or 6 superwoms today which are large so that was good but he only basked for a little while before going back under hos log I don't get it

I'm not an expert, but I had the same issue with my first beardie a few weeks ago. I took him to the vet on the Monday after he got bad. It started the similar to your situation, but I ended up taking him probably a day or two later than I should have as our herp vet was unavailable on weekends. We got meds and a syringe food plan, but as I said, it was too late. Try to get him to a vet if you can. Good luck with him and I hope he gets better.
