Had you been taking him out close to bedtime, when he's less likely to have the energy to attack?
My first two were difficult to tame as babies. They didn't start warming up to us until probably close to 6 months, at which time we couldn't get them to be independent anymore

i will try that as soon as he goes to bed. it just seems like he is never without energy. how did u not get frustrated. its been awhile since i have had a beardy my first one took to be held right away never had a problem other then he always wanted out to be held. this one honestly is a little devil.

Strangely enough, I never received the open mouth or flying leap to bite from Oscar and Felix (god I miss them). They were rather calm with me, but weren't with the ex and his kids.

What happens when you go up to his tank? Does he lunge at the glass at you? What if you start with just talking to him, to let him get used to your presence?

He doesnt lung at me or anything if im just sitting htere although he does open his mouth alot when i sit there. i use my computer which is near his tank so he does see me alot. when i stick my hand in there though the game is on. i did try picking him up at his bedtime which does seem to help a bit usualy he is asleep and doesnt freak out. even when i hold him he opens his mouth anytime i move my hand. i hope he eventualy warms up to me because i kind of grown attached to him.

He will, in time. Eventually he come to realize that you're not phased by his Napoleon complex (heehee) and will continue to pick him up regardless of what he does, and finally give in.

are you just reaching right for him or taking your time?

It sounds like a defence response to me. If you are a little too quick about it they can feel like they are being attacked.

I try and take my time when i put my hand in the cage. he even opens his mouth after i am holding him but doest try and bite then. its just the part of getting him out of the cage that is frustrating me. i never had one like this. i am getting to the point of wanting to find someone to take him off my hands. i am going to give it a little more time.

another thing to think about, is whose hands hell wind up in and how well he will (or wont) be taken care of. hes probably better off with you, since you wouldnt know how hell be treated with a new owner. just something to consider

I understand about worrying how he/she will be taken care of if i find him a new home. im going to give it some more time but like most people on here who are going thru what im going thru it gets very frustrating getting bit and having a mean beardy. im hoping he gets over his attitude soon.

It is frustrating but it does get better. It just takes time. Phoebe was just starting to settle down when I discovered she was gravid. We had taken 1 step forward and all of a sudden we went 20 steps backwards. It took months - I think it was a good 6 months before I was able to just lift her without fear of attack... You just have to keep trying - I never gave up with her - I held her EVERYDAY, whether she liked it or not!

Please dont give up! My Dragon Cupid has been soooo wild and crazy and she is getting so much better!
It has taken me two weeks but my 9 mo old bearded dragon has gone from attacked and leaping and biting me(had to wear gloves!) to holding her without gloves and not getting bit!

mine has been doing the same thing and I'm kind of at the same point you are at.
I have been following everyones advice on this site and she still doesn't seem to want
to be near me. Her tank is on our bar and she sees me all the time and I sit by her
tank sometimes and let her watch me but as soon as my hand gets in there she freaks
out, opens her mouth and tries to run or she tries to bite (though she has no teeth).

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
