I don't really know if this is an emergency,

but I just need to know if anyone else has had this happen...

My apartment building just burned down yesterday, my apartment only got a little bit of smoke damage. My baby beardie, Chester, was trapped in the smokey house for about an hour. He was getting ready to shed before this happened, but last night he just turned all white. He is holding his toes up like the skin is too tight or something. He is also waving a lot more than usual, and he doesn't act like this when he sheds usually. He is staying with my grandmother, and he is pretty stressed.

Any ideas of any way I can help him??

First, I am sorry to hear about your apartment building. I hope no one was hurt.
As far as your baby beardie, I dont know what (other than a vet visit) could be done for smoke inhalation, if that is what it is. You may want to try bathing your beardie to see if it has to do with the shedding, and see if the bathing helps. The bathing would probably be a good idea anyway, to get him re-hydrated from being in the smoky buildng.

Hope that your beardie is ok.

Thanks. No human in the fire was hurt, but some pets were, unfortunately. :[ But my pets and family are fine. Other than Chester's skin. It looks like he is ready to shed, it is just like this sped everything up and now his skin is on too tight, and there are no breaks in it, ya know? He seems pretty uncomfortable. I don't really have anywhere to bathe him right now, I am stuck in a hotel and he is with my grandmother. I will post updates though, I am on my way to check on him now.

I hate that some pets were hurt (or worse I fear). That is always so sad. I am glad that your family and pets are fine.

When you go check on Chester, even if you can just put him in a sink or some bowl or container with some warm (baby bath temp) water. It would probably be really beneficial to him.

Keep us updated on how he is.

Yea, two birds and two cats were killed in the fire, two cats are also still in the hospital. It is really unfortunate.

I just gave Chester a bath, but I had to leave to go back to the hotel. I told my Grandmother to keep an eye on him, and to let me know if anything weird happens, though it isn't likely they will notice because they aren't so sure they like him very much. haha. I will keep updating.

Glad to hear you and your beardie are okay!! Do you have a vet you take him too? Maybe you could just call and ask if he needs to be seen? Bathing him is what I would suggest, just like the others did.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
