so i have a beardie. she’s still a juvenile. she’s never been aggressive or anything before today. I only post this in here because i’m worried she’s not doing well. she keeps puffing her beard at me and gaping a little. she even bit my mom, i noticed it looks like a little shed around one of her nostrils but the other seems clear. i don’t notice any breathing between her flaring her beard at me. could that one nostril be plugged with shed and if so how do i fix this? (the picture shows her flaring up at me and her nostril that looks a little clogged) (i am new to beardies so please give me any and all feedback, i’m terrified at the moment)

Hi there, it's possible that she's in a bad mood due to the nostril but it may be something totally different. How long have you had her, how often do you handle her and is there anything at all that's new in the room or in her tank ? Animals coming around or kids bothering her ? Does she eat and poo well ? She looks thin , may be needing more food and hydration. Offer water dripped on her snout for a drink.

Do you ever see her eat the sand ? Sometimes they do , they can also breathe it in, although I doubt that;s the problem. What are her temps and how do you measure them ? Please post pics of the entire tank and the type of lights you use. Just to try to rule out any problem in that area, but it may just be a passing thing.

Hello,

The nostril does kind of look like it may shed. I agree, she does look a bit dehydrated in the
picture.
Is your dragon puffing up off & on, or just when you approach her?

I agree …. nose in shed …. the blockage will most likely be removed by the beardie when it's loose enough.

How old is she ?
…. if under 12 months , she needs live insects twice per day.

Please get rid of the sand - EXTREMELY HIGH IMPACTION RISK , especially if it's CalciSand aka VitaSand (this stuff is lethal if ingested as enough of it in the gut will form a concrete like blockage in the gut …. is very reactive on contact with gastric juices).

Adding nice big juicy silkworms to her diet each day will help hydrate her, very nutritious too and most lizards LOVE THEM.

Good idea to get her some silkworms or hornworms to provide hydration, plump her up, and if you hand feed her she'll be happy to see you. :)
