Im looking into buying a new beardie in a few months. Id really love to experience having baby beardies out of my male Chuy. I been trying to get educated on genetics and I find leathers and silks very interesting. I recently ruled out having a silk female as a breeder cause I do not want to risk any skin tearing. However, I am considering either getting a male silk to breed later or a female leather back to breed with Chuy.
He came from a Citrus GG (dad) x Orange Hypo GG(Mom) and Chuy is a Hypo citrus/orange GG. Obviously there are no leatherback genetics in his lineage, but this pairing produced very colorful babies and Chuy was one of the quieter colors. Im wondering what would be a good pairing for him? I think he would do great with a red leatherback with blue bars. Would there be around a 50/50 of normal/leatherback outcome?
Also- he is 3 years old in July- when are they too old to breed?
Hopefully this pic comes out- hes apx 24 inches long. Im sure people would love to have some of his babies He likes to open his mouth at me while hes outside. Never offered to bite and is very sweet. Loves to play in the water too *He has beefed up more since this photo
