My sister bought my son a Beardie for his 13th birthday. After lots of research and test handling to make sure he would handle them, I went along with the plan. We should have named him Jerry Maguire instead of Hunter because he had me at hello LOL The first time them lil beardie arms waved I was hooked.
His favorite place to sit when not in his cage is on my laptop. He will chase my cursor and type.... If you ever get a garbled IM from me, it was probably Hunter.
Recently a friend of mine called me to tell me that her friend was trying to find a new home for 3 beardies. I told her I wanted to talk to the lady. When I did I knew I had to get these sweet poor defenseless animals out of this ladies care. She had all 3 caged together in a 20 long aquarium with a mother load of rocks and useless statues. They had now UV or heat. She only fed the 3 of them 3 dozen small crix a week. (Hunter goes through 2 dozen a day.) They were not offerred greens, veggies or fruits on a regular basis. She proceeded to tell me that they had started to eat at each other's appendages. She lined their aquarium with fleece blankets and changed the blanket once a week. I told her I would come pick them up the following day. She didn't want anything for them she just wanted these "things" (her words not mine) out of her house. Finally 3 weeks later she agreed to let me pick them up. 2 of the homes I had lined up fell through because they were not sure of how to take care of the limbs taht had been injured. I seen an ad on Craigslist for a local guy wanting a beardie called him and he took both of them that night. God bless you Nick from New Castle, Indiana. He offered me money for them and I asked him to please put that money into taking care of the 2. A few days later I got a call from the 3rd dragon's new owner that her daughter had no interest whatsoever in the animal and that they had not went and bought the proper supplies. I went and picked the poor guy up again.
