My beardie is about a year old. We have had her since last Secember. She was always a ravenous eater (with the running household joke being that when you make eye contact, she tops her head toward where we keep the feeders and thinks “I could eat….” Over the summer we moved, so there was disruption of routine, then a car trip (in her enclosure, she seemed unphased) to a temporary location for 10 days until our house was ready. Then we moved her in. Since the move started, she’s gotten pickier on food (Dubai’s were staple with other worms mixed in) but would still eat. Recently (maybe the last month) she’s basically uninterested in any bugs. For a while I had been able to get her interested in something new (Phoenix works, crickets, superworms, hornworms) but that rarely lasted more than a few days and then she’d go back to ignoring me. I put fresh salad in every day and I think she sneaks some but she never empties the bowl. She is still active, animated, and curious. She doesn’t act sick at all. She glass surfs quite a bit but that seems to have started after we settled in and started letting her free roam a bit during the day - it’s like she knows there’s a bigger world than her cage!
She’s in a 36x18x18 Carolina custom enclosure with their uvb/dual basking bulb light bar for that size cage. I recently replaced the uvb bulb to be sure it was good. I’m thinking about getting her a bigger enclosure but I’m not confident that will solve the eating issue and she’s staring to make this mother of dragons nervous.
I keep telling myself that she won’t starve herself. She gets baths a few times a week, and she loves to be sprayed down when she’s basking (and will drink the water as you spray her) so I know she’s hydrated. She only poops a little bit every few days maybe, commensurate with what she is taking in.
Any ideas or suggestions would be very much appreciated!
