So I usually scan through the forum, and I have recently been seeing quite a few concerned owners regarding RI...

My beardie's enclosure usually stays around 35-40% humiditiy. I was wondering if this was too high, and if it is what is the best way to control this? That seems to be around the general humidity in my home, and I run an open screen top.

I have a 55 gallon tank for him, and he is about 9 inches long. 150w basking bulb, a 60 watt, and a 40 watt throughout the rest of the tank to maintain the proper temp gradient.

There is also a 36" T8 Reptisun inside of the enclosure (not above the screen)

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I tried to answer the common questions.

As long as you are between 30 to 40 , you should be alright.

Like the above poster said that is an acceptable humidity range. Try not to worry. A lot of people posting with RI problems have contributing factors such as poor habitat, improper bathing with dragon inhaling water, and poor nutrition. Not all of the posters, so no one jump on me. As long as you have your set up similar to the care sheets on the forum homepage you should be good to go.

Well, I'm in subtropical coastal northern New South Wales (latitude 33S) and I rarely see enclosure humidity under 50% , and in summer because of the high humidity I run my aircon non-stop ( regularly have humidity up over 80% RH and 30oC today) , can be much the same overnight outside In summer ). ie it's 57% RH inside the enclosures today (2pm) and I've had the aircon running all 24/7 for days since the hot muggy weather returned.

I know of breeders and keepers who live in far northern coastal Queensland (near Cairns) who successfully keep central bearded dragons , they have only 2 seasons up there HOT DRY , VERY HOT WET.

I think your's will be fine.

.... and many of them have large pools of standing water and even live plants in their beardies' enclosures as well as beddings hold lots of moisture when they get wet when the beardies crawl through them , all of which contribute to very high enclosure humidities.
There is no need to have standing water in a bearded dragon's enclosure if they are feed properly with fresh veg (greens especially) and live insects.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
