Tracie's post is what I am going by. I will not hesitate to admit that I am paranoid, but I have had several problems with Lilly lately so I'm going to do everything I can to make things as easy as possible for her.

Thx Sara! I figured it was too low... I guess I need to buy a humidifier, good thing he just had a shed huh? lol.

Hi-just wondering if you ever hot your humidity straightened out? EVERYTHING I have read says ideal humiduty is 35%. I have a beardie Just under a year--he is VERY spoiled and his upgraded home has been a bit of a challenge. I had the hardest time getting a basking temp regulated and now that is ok (with 2 halogen lamps in a slider hood, of course uvb and nt too). I can relate to the humidity--his baby home always seemed to be too high and tried everything, but I believe the themometer was a joke. Now in his new home it seems way to low. We bought a flukers themometer and it reads anywhere between 0%-16%-which I don't believe. I have a water dish in there. I just think that there is NO WAY it can be this low (especially 0%-I live in St. Louis!). I am concerned I am doing harm to Harry. I try to do everything by the book.

I think it would be best for me to invest in a different themometer. Any suggestions!

He recently went to the vet because i was concerned with 2 of his toenails-they have fallen out. The vet said it was probably from the last time he shed and a piece occluded the blood flow and should eventually come back. He also had a dark ring around his tail--which turns out to be a tiny bit of fungus--so he is on medicine, but the vet said this can be seen when there is too much humidity or possibly wetness. GEEZ what is going on!! The vet said he does not think his cage is off--it can be seen a lot this time of year. His cage is clean and he is a horse (the vet even said he is a big boy)and healthy other wise.

SORRY SO LONG!!

Proud momma of Harry.

Hey everybody...

I just found out tonight that the humidity reading on the Acurite digital thermometers is the indoor humidity, not outdoor. So if your display unit is on the cool end of your viv, that is where it is reading the humidity, not at the basking spot. The humidity at the basking spot is going to be higher for those who leave a water dish in the warm end of the viv. I have two acurites in my viv right now, and the reading in my cool end is at 22% and at the other end where my water dish is, the reading is 30%. So--I just wanted to let you all know to watch your humidity in the basking area so that it isn't too high!!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
