I'm setting up a bearded dragon tank and I got everything set up good except for the humidity levels. In the tank it's around 60%, I bought a mini dehumidifier and tried the rice sock trick but it didn't even affect the humidity. Do I need to get a larger humidifier? I live in the basement so it'll natually be more humid. Any help would he greatly appreciated.

I think that's a bit high for humidity, i think the recommended humidity level is 35 to 40%. If the mini dehumidifier isn't working or doing its job, probably getting a larger one might help.

Yea I ordered a larger one online for around $50 so I hope that'll do the trick, I tested the humidity upstairs to see if my hygrometer worked and it had about 45%, however, having it upstairs isn't an option. I will let you know how it goes when I receive the new dehumidifier. Thank you.

Also, are you using an analog or digital probe for your hygrometer (humidity gauge)?

I'm using both, the analog one in the tank says about 65-70 and my digital one says 60

60% really isn't too bad. How does the humidity in the tank compare to the humidity in the room outside of the tank? Their natural habitat spans a great distance and includes areas that get to 60% humidity easily so unless it feels really humid to you in the room I wouldn't worry about it much.

Outside of my tank is like 65% I tried opening my door and turn my fan on but it won't seem to change. My big concern is night time. It raises up to 70%

Does the air feel humid to you too? Are you sure about the accuracy of the hygrometers? It may be worth trying to calibrate them https://www.neptunecigar.com/tips/how-to-calibrate-your-hygrometer

Hopefully the dehumidifier will cut the humidity a bit.

In my room, since it's in the basement, it's cooler, probably around 75 degrees. Upstairs where I tested both the hygrometers it was 79 degrees and the humidity dropped to the low 40s. I'm just so confused with it all. & will calibrating the digital one too work?

Salt test should work on both. It just makes a comparison against a known value so you can compensate the output or calibrate if your hygrometer allows for that. Basements can be tricky. I know my basement stays a bit more humid than upstairs so I keep my roaches down there. I have to run the dehumidifier now and then to keep mold from building on the walls during the summer.

With a larger humidifier running, my humidity drops to around 42% is that still too high for a beardie?

I dont think 42% will arise an issue, just make sure temps are right for cool and hot side. I think BD's or any other reptiles usually get RI due to improper heating "catching a cold" so to speak, so as long as you have the right temps, should be okay.

Sure. Parts of their natural habitat get up that high. Especially during the winter when rainfall increases.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
