Humidity level is too high! Help!

Sooo now that it’s summer it’s been super humid and I have those little dial temp and humidity gauges inside his viv. I never use it for the temp (I have proved and a temp gun for that) but I e been using it for the humidity part of it and it’s been saying 50 percent during the day and going up to
Like 70 even 80 at night! So I make sure to take his water dish out at night n everything and I also purchased a small portable style dehumidifier and I put it right on top of his tank but it doesn’t seem to be making a difference.... at all. I only had the dehumidifier today but again no difference so far, so didn’t know if anyone had any ideas on what I should or could do to lower that level?
Also, he’s a picky eater, he has gone a couple weeks without eating before and I finally got him eating, yay! But it’s reptiworms black fly larvae that he wants to eat every single day? Is that ok for him to be eating everyday? And I don’t have to sprinkle calcium so I? I’ve only had him for a month n a half, he’s about 7 inches long and he’s in a 40 gal breeder, temps are good and he has a reptisun tube 10.0 uvb. So I feel like I’m starting to get the hang of this and he’s finally starting to do good! After going to vet twice and trying different tactics on feeding (everything you can think of actually). Just don’t want to make a mistake that will set us back again or god forbid something worse! Thank you!

Hiya,

First of all, I wouldn't be too worried about temporary humidity spikes like that. That said, 70 or 80 IS pretty high up there... Out of curiosity, where in the house do you have him? Is he by a window or in the basement? If so, you might want to move him somewhere else. A large, ground level or higher room with few open windows and no water taps would be ideal, such as a living room or den.

Also, what heat source are you using? Hotter air holds more water, so if you're maintaining higher temps at night that might be part of the issue. Letting the temperature fall to even to the mid 60's at night is perfectly fine if you're not already.

Finally, regarding food... BSFLs are a GREAT food source, if expensive! Try to get him on some crickets or roaches too, if you can, but if you can afford that many BSFLs there shouldn't be any issue. I personally don't know much about the calcium, though, so I will stay out of that!

Hope that helps!

I have him in my bedroom on the first floor, I have a window in the bedroom and I’ve tried the window being open at night and shut, when it’s open it seems even higher. I don’t have any heat going on right now I’m the house,I just live in a place where it gets so humid during he summer! And super cold in the winter yay! And he did eat crickets when I first got him a month and a half ago and I have Dubai’s but he won’t touch them anymore! He even stopped eating for a couple of weeks until I bought those black soldier flie larva and hornworms which he lives both, spice still been offering the Dubia s as much as possible and he will eat one of two a day of those but then eats like 20 of the larva. So I just wanted to make sure that they’re a good staple for him. I saw someone mention those damprid bags, I was thinking of possibly hanging one of those in his tank at night because nighttime is when it was worse, it was 80 percent in his tank last night. Again I have that little portable debumidifier on top of his tank but it didn’t work. Ugh I just don’t want him getting sick! Thank you!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
