humid hides for beardies

has anyone here ever used a humid hide for their beardie? i know other lizard species (leopard geckos, crested geckos, skinks) benefit from having a humid hide to aid shedding, so i was considering giving one to my beardie to see if it helped him shed more easily. i've noticed my dragon can take a very long time to shed certain areas, like 3 or more weeks. i also notice he spends more time in his hides when he is shedding, though they do not have any extra humidity from the rest of the enclosure currently. i give him baths, which help, but it seems possibly having a humid area he could access on his own would help along further. current humidity is on the dry side but within normal dragon parameters, about 25-30% on the warm side and 40-45% on the cool side.

i was thinking of taking one of his hides and putting it on top of a shallow tray on the cool side of his enclosure, with a layer of moistened sphagnum moss to raise up the humidity within the hide.

Humidity usually equalizes within a given space so IMO it would likely raise the RH in the entire enclosure.

not necessarily. over a long enough period of time it will equalize, but for a period of a few days, a properly constructed humid hide will create a higher humidity microclimate within that hide, with little moisture escape to the enclosure as a whole. when it starts to dry out, you remoisten the moss to replenish the humidity. humid hides are pretty common for other species that rely on higher humidity to aid shedding such as leopard geckos and skinks, but haven't seen specific references to being used with beardies before. here's an article that explains how humid hides work, and another article specifically about leopard geckos which generally have low humidity requirements but use humid hides for help in shedding.

I see...it's a sealed airtight box with a small door.
I still think that any container with a small opening would lose humidity to the outside, but maybe not significantly as you noted.

Might work.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
