hey, maybe they do things differently in BC…
I was going to jokingly suggest the OP file for emancipation, but did a quick search to see if that even applied in Canada. You have to be 19 in BC, which I'm assuming you're not. Interesting little tidbit, BC leads all the provinces in Canada for the number of runaways. not suggesting that in your case of course, but it just begs the question, what is going on with the parenting skills up there? I had to look… but no, Bieber is from Ontario…

Hey I was raised in BC and turned out pretty alright! Haha but I do agree BC does have there full of spoiled little brats, I am even 20 and still get threatened if I have a party in my parents house.

I really don't think it's our place to judge this family. We don't know the circumstances of their household. This person came here looking for suggestions regarding her beardie.

The best advice is take him with you and make an inventory of your valuables as suggested above.

Unless you know of this person's family and their situation, please do not insinuate that the parents are irresponsible.
The OP opened up a very personal issue to seek advice for the well being of the beardie. Focus on the issue at hand and not make assumptions or otherwise.

Yeah, guys. I mean the situation sucks but to suggest I should get emancipated or that my parents shouldn't have custody over me or my sister is going a little far? They're not bad people, they don't abuse or neglect us, they just try a little too hard to be "cool parents" and more often than not I end up in situations like this.

I am 19 years old. I pay my taxes, buy my own food, buy my pets food, work a full time job, have my own credit card, drive, all that stuff. I could leave any time and nobody could stop me. However because of mental health issues I've been dealing with my whole life I am not ready to be on my own. That's why I have my beardie. This silly lizard, who throws his salad around his enclosure, who tries to hide his 20 inch body behind a 1 inch wide cactus, who manged to terrify our kitten just by turning his head towards her,who visibly perks up when I first come to check on him every morning and turns to lick my fingers when I pat him. He brightens my life and I ultimately put him first because of it. I just want advice on how to keep him as stress free as possible so he can continue to do so. As far as the party goes I have done literally all that I can short of crashing it myself, brought up all the points made in this thread and then some, only to be met with a metaphorical wall. At this point it all falls on my parents, my sister, and the trust they put in the people invited to this party not to royally screw us over. I will be taking inventory of my possessions and I will insist on them being replaced if they go missing. I might even get my sister and parents to sign off on a guarantee nothing in my room will be touched. I've got it covered guys, there's no need to freak out this bad. Again it's still a stupid, stupid, sttttuuuuuuupppppiiiiiiddddd, stupidstupidstupid thing but I'm not the one letting it happen. If anything goes wrong I can rest a bit easier knowing that I called it and tried to stop it, as immature as that sounds.

For around $25 dollars you can get one of those door knobs with a key lock on it. Change your current doorknob out with the locking kind and for extra security install a padlock too.

I bought one for my room and it was super easy to install, and because it is the door knob itself that is locked it is stronger than just adding an external lock. I used something like this: http://www.lowes.com/pd_467144-38004-8203_1z0xcla+2z8vl__?productId=50093102&Ns=p_product_qty_sales_dollar|1&pl=1&currentURL=%3FNs%3Dp_product_qty_sales_dollar%7C1%26page%3D1&facetInfo=$15%20-%20$25

I can condense this down to one statement. Take your dragon with you.
Guys, that was outta line. I am honestly disappointed with all of you. This is supposed to be a positive, supportive community. She asked a question about her dragon, we answer the question. Not bash her parents or her sister. Sorry. I felt that I should say this. Let's look at this, and not make the same mistake again. Keep offering advice, but will a little more tack. Hope I didn't make everyone hate me, but I wanted you to know how I felt.

Firstly I am going to apologize for my comments I made about your sister and family, was not my place to put down an rude assumption about your family life.

Honestly that's why I am very spratic to post any topics asking for advice, way to much judgemental people putting you down for doing your best, I am here for an reason aren't I?

Buy a lock and lock your door up tight. Even the most well meaning can accidentally drop your dragon when there are so many distractions(as in lots of people). Lock up your valuables too(lol).
Threaten your sister with her life if anything is touched in your room.
Good luck

Hey man, everyone makes mistakes, most of all me. I'm just trying to persevere the good atmosphere on the site, I don't wanna lose that. And encourage new members to not be afraid to post, lest their family be dissed. It's easy to hurt people, hard to make it right. I said that because so far this site has been all roses, and it was such a surprise to see such a different post. If she had asked for advice about her family, give it to her! :D But she asked about her dragon. If anyone thinks that her family is that big of a deal, pm her. /s. But for real, we are dragon addicts, so people come to us for advice about DRAGONS. I don't even know what I'm trying to say. I'm only 17 lol, I haven't seen as much as you guys, but lets not make things personal.

I try not to say anything that could even seem rude, sarcastic, or mean. It is so hard when you are typing to interpret what someone is trying to say. Better safe then sorry.

I'd definitely have brought him with.
My Striker used to have "sleepovers" with me at my ex's.
A large Rubbermaid tub (the same I feed her in) served as a good temporary tank that she couldn't climb out of, as long as decorations are kept low, and a screen top from an old 10gal laid across the top held a UV and a hot light until I got a clip-on.
Hope it all went well!!

PS, I'm also from BC ^.^

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
