Hi Everyone
Would like to introduce myself and my beardie Loki (Photo attached). He's my first bearded dragon, I got just over a week ago now 28th May. He was really active when in the pet store, the guy couldn't get a hold of him he was running all over the place.
Since he's been in his new home he hasn't been all that active. In fact if he see's me in the room he'll freeze. He then discovered he has a cave to hide out and is in there all the time when I'm around. His eating is not what I expected either, started by just putting one cricket in see if he'd eat, but he didn't and the cricket just hid itself. Doesn't seem to be eating Veg either. At one stage there was 5-6 crickets in the Viv and he just didn't seem to want to eat.
What I have started doing is taking out the hide for a while so that he'll explore a bit more, and I'll handle him a bit around this time as well. He seems really nervous, I approach really slow from the front and just stroke his back, he gets a bit panicy when I pick him up then, with a big open mouth, I'm guessing as a warning to back of. Do some/most/all beardies do the whole back off or I'll bite you thing? Perhaps I'm just being impatient?
