We got our baby about a month ago and I know I have to wait to see if it's male or female but I didn't want to wait. I turned to twitter to ask what others would think a cool name since it had to match M/F.. I got silly names lmao!!! In the end I was sitting looking at my little precious and wanted something unique, cool, and the kids could remember. My husband is French, kids are fluent in French so I named him Calais but pronounce it Cah-lay-us... I feel it's suiting. He is definitely my unique little critter eater <3

My first beardie was named Boji. I was going to name him mr. bojangles because I wanted him to have a western sounding name and I couldn't find any good names from Fallout New Vegas (my favorite!!!) and Boji really fit his personality. It also means 'fight' in Slovakian where I have heritage from. I thought it was funny because the little guy couldn't hurt a fly!



After he passed, (he had an internal infection that had began before I brought him home) I decided to try again, but with an adult! Here's the crazy part- when I saw her ad on craigslist the very first thing I thought of was the name Lucy.



I emailed the breeder and as it turns out, her name was already Lucy!!! At that point I decided it was destiny. I tell people she's named after the Beatles song Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds.

And here she is today!

I named mine Rhaegar after a Game of Thrones character known as the "Dragon Knight". It definitely suits him

We went with a god theme for our pets. With our beardies we have Apollo, Chronos, which are greek gods and then Aten who is an Egyptian god.

We decided right off we wanted a dragon name. We started with Toothless (for the purpose of earning cool points with my then-five-year-old nephew), but... you know when a name just doesn't "stick"? So that lasted all of a day. I can't remember what dragon names we went through, but there were at least 5 before we found our final one. In a desperate search to find any-dang-thing that we could really see ourselves calling her, we went to Quetzalcoatl (Aztec sun god and winged serpent). That quickly got shortened to Quetzal, which actually kind of worked for us... but we started calling her Pretzel for a nickname, and soon couldn't call her anything else.

Went through every "dragon name" in the book, looking for something fitting and maybe a little ferocious... and we wound up with a snack.

It probably fits more than a dragon name anyway. She is not a mighty huntress. She'll sit in her feeding tank, eat the dubia closest to her (that she doesn't have to move to reach), and then look up at me impatiently until I scare the bugs toward her or reposition her. When she's eating, she doesn't really move... just like pretzels.

I love to read the stories! I love Lucy(!) and Pretzel, I really laughed at those.
Our guys are Charlie and Speedy. Charlie just seemed like a good name to go male or female. Charlie was our first, we bought through Petco he is very relaxed and chill, wanted to hang out on your shoulder and just be with us. After a month we decided he needed a friend so we went back and there were four to pick from and the one we picked looked the most alert. Getting him to our apartment we expected much of the same chill attitude as we had with Charlie but this guy jumped so far and so fast across the room that there was no other name for him than Speedy.

Usually I go by what hits me after I spend some time with them. This time, my son was interested in the new baby, and Stella was the only name we could agree on.

My first beardie name is reptar from the green Dino from the rugrats since it use to be my favorite show as a kid and my second one is titian because his colors are brownish reddish

We called ours Layne Scaley. Hopefully it turns out to be male

I named my girl Topaz at first because she has the plain beardie colouring but has a line of orange under her jaw that goes across her beard. I nicknamed her Topie shortly after naming her but I prefer Topie over Topaz, thus it is her name now. She always looks so grumpy and always has this unimpressed expression on her face due to shape her eyes make when she looks at me. She also sticks her nose in the air when she's basking all snooty-like.

I named my first Aina (awn-ya), it's celtic and she liked it. My son named my new baby Watson because we both love Sherlock Holmes. Poor lil' bugger usually gets called Watty :roll:

That's great! That name literally made my day! My fiance is a huge Alice in Chains fan and practically worships Layne lol. Nice thinking on that one.

When I first brought home my beardie I was planning on naming it Bunny because it reminded me of Sailor Moon (and it was around Easter and my friend suggested it), but that wasn't doing it for me, so I decided on Taz, which is after a character in a musical, Starship (if anyone knows Team Starkid :lol: )
I also chose it because it worked out for a boy or girl because the character in the play is a girl, but was named after the Tasmanian Devil cartoon character. But my beardie turned out to be a boy, anyway! I also call him Mr. Taz or Tazert Jones as a joke . I love everybody else's names too!! Pretzel is priceless!!
