i just got my beardy a couple days ago hes 8 mounths old and was verry atached to his last owner who could no longer take care of him. his owner said that he does not like to be in his cage so i tried to take him out but he got very black beardied and gaped at me. he does this everytime i stick my hand in the cage without food well even with food he still gets black. it also doesnt help that he hasnt pooped in three days because his owner broke the heat lap. does anyone have anyway to calm him down enough to get him treated for impaction.

If you just got him it might be best to keep him inside the cage till he gets used to it. After that, start handling him once a day for fifteen minutes, always have food to offer when you do to ease the tensions. :p & do you mind telling us his cage set up? (lights, UV) etc.

I agree, if you just got him I would give him a few days to adjust before you try handling him, he's very likely going through some relocation stress. That might also be a reason that he's not pooping just yet. To help him get used to your scent you can put a tshirt of yours or something into his tank.

his set up is just like it was with his last owner (she gave me all his stuff) except i have a heat lamp on him thats at 95 f he has been slowly eating less probably because he still hasnt pooped i pour olive oil on his greens which he eats but nothing and he gapes at me now when i walk up to the cage (i think hes getting grumper because he cant poop) but idk what to do to help him if i cant give him a bath

Well your temps are too low for an 8 month old, especially if he's having trouble going to the bathroom. I would try & get his temps bumped up to at least 100, but not more than 105. If it comes down to it you may just have to put him in the bath anyway, even if he doesn't like to be handled.

Can you still describe your setup for us? The type of UVB light that you're using could have a big effect on your beardie's health if it's not the correct one, and pet stores usually recommends the wrong lights. Do you have a long tube light, or a coil bulb? The compact coil style bulbs emit too-high UV rays that can cause major health problems, and are damaging to your beardie's eyes.
What type of substrate are you using? What are you using to measure your temps, and what is the temp of the basking surface itself?

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
