How to make a cup Phoenix worm proof?

I thought aluminium foil would stop them, it just slows them down cause they cant get a good grip.

I didnt exactly stare at the cup for hours so I cant figure out HOW they managed to get out but I definitely noticed some crawling around. I obviously dont want anything to die and rot ugh I cringe at the thought of that happening...

I basically lined the edges of a Zoo Med food dish with aluminium foil thinking that since its so slick they wouldnt be able to climb it. I was wrong though.

Without having to buy a special "worm proof" dish, is there anything I can do using something I could find at home? Im thinking maybe some sort of glass cup since crickets cant climb them...
Any suggestions?

dry ceramic dish works well. PW can climb up to a 45 degree angle dry but wet they can scale most anything.

Yes, get a bowl with upright sides. When they are dry, they can only climb slopes.

Glass does work but is dangerous as your beardie may bite it and end up breaking it. Just get something with upright sides as already suggested. Have a look around at home and im sure you will come up with something.... I used to use a plastic candle holder I found in the back of the cupboard... just make sure that whatever you use is wide enough for your beardie to get to the food but also deep enough that the phoenix worms dont climb on top of one another to escape!!!

I snagged a small plastic "serving" dish with straight sides from... my 8 year old's kid tea set. :wink:

The trick is smooth bowl/dry worms. Initially, I was wetting the worms to clean them off, and this was seriously causing an issue with escaping. :roll: Now, I plop them onto a paper towel, let them wiggle off the media, and then plop them into the tea set dish, and blow lightly to get the extra bedding off. Haven't had a one escape since.
