How to have playtime?

I just got my bearded dragon a week ago, for the last two days we have been bonding, he crawls all over my arms, and then I put him on my stomach and he falls asleep.
Yesterday, when I got home from work and took him out of his tank, I found him very active, more than usual. He wanted to crawl all over my back, chest, arms, and when I tried to settle him to sleep at his bed time (8pm or so), he was still very active, he was running all over me.
I don't have a lizard safe room for him to wander around in, I was wondering what I could do to help him use up his energy without worrying if he will jump off me and run. I tried putting him down on the table to play with and he bolted, I caught him before he got off the table.
Is there a way I can play with him? He is still a baby (6 months) and just wants to play.

I don't have a beardie safe room in my house but Bug loves running around. I made a hip leash for him (just a ribbon and a small toggle) and tied a bell from a cat collar. Now I can hear if he is running somewhere where it will be difficult to retrieve him i.e. under the bed and the end of his leash normally pokes out if he manages to get there anyway, so It's much easier to coax or pull him out if he's on the wooden floor.
Before the lead I let him play on my bed but he spent the whole time trying to get himself stuck between bed and the wall, maybe yours won't be quite so troublesome.

You could do as I do with my beardie. I clear all the stuff out of my bathroom, make sure its all clean and let him run around as I watch Netflix by the door but my bathroom is also small and there's nothing for him to get hurt on

if he's little, the floor is dangerous, let him crawl, climb all over you until he runs out of energy , he'll then crash and what to snuggle or go back into the tank.

if he's getting big , 6months and older, it's ok to let him loose on the floor under close supervision to explore and trot about.... he'll love his free range in the house time.

Thank you everyone. I think I will try the leash idea, I am to worried he will get into a crack somewhere and I wont be able to get him out. Until I find one though, he can run all over my arms until he is ready to snuggle.

mine is a same way. after she gotten use to me she gotten active. after basking under light for a whole day. i plan to make a harness for her and have a very long string so i can tell where she is at all times. i need to limit her time out as i live in Alaska and its 67 or 70 in my rooms most times unless i turn a heater on high. the trouble i have is not needing to find her but my dog. my dog go's nuts and not in a friendly way either so i have to watch her and my dog at all times. i lock the door every time i am out of a room for safety.

I ordered a leash from The Worm Lady. They go around their hind legs and hips and adjusts as they grow. I got one that is 15feet, that way he can wander around my house and classroom.
Yesterday mine was so active I could hardly keep hold of him. Can't wait for the leash to come.
Having a dog that freaks out with a bearded dragon must be hard. Is he okay when they are in their tank?

I let Gizmo play in my whirlpool/garden tub and on my bed. When she was younger & quicker I set up bumpers so to speak on my bed to contain her from falling off the edges. Now she just kind of knows the boundaries of the bed, but I still watch her like s hawk.
