So, I have two bearded dragon tanks in one room. They both have about 60% humidity and I know it needs to be way lower.. I honestly don't know how to make it lower. I don't keep any liquids in my room seeing as I figured that would be the problem. Its not working. still super high. Anyone know the trick?

Yeah a dehumidifier is the best bet if you need to lower it. 60% isn't awful but is definitely near the high end of where you want it to be. How are you measuring humidity? Are you sure you're getting accurate readings?

You can get a dehumidifier if necessary

I was reading about that right now. I got something called Damprid, i keep it up on a shelf in my room but its not working at all. Waste of money. I found a humidifier on Amazon, but I'm pretty sure it sticks on the wall. or something like that, will something that small be able to tank the humidity out of a whole room?

I don't know if I'm getting an accurate reading or not. I have a thermometer in there that measures both.. it will go from 65 to 60 and people tell me thats way too high and it can cause them to get tail rot. :/

Is it a digital hygrometer that uses a probe? Or an analog/dial one? You could try and calibrate it using salt and a bag/container. Just add dampened salt to a pop cap and put it in a ziploc with the probe or perhaps you can seal the whole thing in a container. It should read 75% after about 6hrs. The difference is how far off the reading is so you can adjust accordingly. https://www.neptunecigar.com/tips/how-to-calibrate-your-hygrometer If it's way off you can probably pick up a decent one cheaply from a cigar site.

That video helped out a lot, I will try that method and if it doesn't work, and its off too much I will buy a digital one.

I'm interested in this too. We opened our windows last night to our living room and since the heat lamp was off so T-Rex could be cooler at night, I noticed the humidity went up to 75% this morning! Now I don't know what to do because he needs his sleep and I don't want to turn on the heat lamp too early, but I don't want him to get an RI either.

Just wanted to mention that the humidity in Australia where these dragons are originally from can fluctuate and get up that high, and although it could be lower you really don't have to worry to much. And I wonder who came up with the erroneous baloney info that it will cause tail rot ? I've heard there are a lot of Facebook chat groups for beardie owners....maybe there ? Anyway, this site is the top forum for accurate info so stick to this place + I urge you to advise any dragon owners you know to also come here for reliable info. :)

Yeah, the humidity range they are native to can be pretty variable - what you want to really avoid is stale air. Plenty of ventilation and fresh air makes humidity way less of a concern.

Unless you get a whole room dehumidifier I wouldn't waste money on the little ones or the ones that use the desiccant pellets. If those are working your tank probably isn't getting enough ventilation ;)

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!

Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
