I have realized that Lola is incapable of really hunting down her favorite meal-roaches- and it is Alll My Fault

You know how it starts...they hide under the paper towels, the roaches- and your beardie can't find them..so you spend a lot of time shooshing them towards your beardie so they can find them. Next thing you know.. you have this...

My beardie is so spoiled that she will not eat if:

The roaches are too far. As if there should be any chasing..hmmpff.

They roaches are too close.

The roaches must move, but not too much.

Mom must shoo roaches the way of the beardie, but Mom's hands cannot be too "there". Too many fingers, too many distractions.

There must be contrast..too much calcium and I can't see the bugs on those white paper towels.

All furniture must be removed from the viv. No hiding places for the bugs.

I don't like it when all my furniture is gone Mom. Its weird.

Holding the roaches in frot of me doesn't always work. But sometimes, it does.

Do not mist me around feeding time. I hate it. So I won't move.

If Mom takes too long to serve the meal, or there is too much fuss, I will retreat to my hammock.
Therefore I am done.

In the morning it will be all your fault that I am starving. Rinse and repeat 8)

I had to LOL to that. My beardie will be here tomorrow, so I'll let you know how spoiled she is, but she's getting off to a good start...have dubias, phenoix works, & crickets ready....as well as turnip & mustard greens with sqaush & strawberry topper waiting for her arrival. :D

Mine is like that too, a Diva! He usually makes an effort on the first cricket by aggressivly attacking it, if he misses then he sulks and won't attempt again for a few hours. Worms are so much easier, as long as they are not just out of fridge and too cold to move.

I haven't had a good laugh like that in a while. I've been going through pretty much the same routine as you for 5 yrs now. My Rex(bd) goes both ways, sometimes she wants the big fuss with the food. Then there's the times she looks at me as if to say "Why are you making such a big ordeal about me eating, put the d@*# food down and be done with it ". Oh the things we do for the ones we love.

You would think that with all the complications, my princess would be wasting away...NOT. My husband says "you really shouldn't have to go through all that every night". I can't Not tho. :whip: :whip:
I forgot to add the sulking..I get the sulking too. And if I try and toss another roach in too Soon, forget it. Wait too long, forget it.

 mines the same way, i got into the habbit of feeding her crickets with huge tweezers so they were easier to cetch in the container i keep them in and now its the only way my beardie will eat. If i drop one, heck no she isn't goin to chase it so there i am chasing a single cricket around in her cage, as soon as i cetch it tho n put it infront of her face she gobbles it up...the worms not so much of a problem cuz i kinda of jus thro them in with her salad

Elora, your beardies are adorable..how old are they? Lola will be one approx. Jan 1, and Stewie will be two in April. I can't believe she is 17 inches and less than a year ago she was as small as my pinkie. I luv the babies:)

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
