Hi Guys

I was just wondering how often would a beardie shed, an do they continue to shed throughout their lives?

My male beardie has shed the scales around his mouth but nowhere else, will the rest follow eventually?

Also is he likely to go off his food during a shed?

:?: :?: :?:
Thanks

Shedding can cause behavior changes...seems to vary depending on the dragon. My male hides most of the time he's in shed...my female doesn't seem to care. They will shed for most of their lives, but it really slows down as they get older and stop growing.

How often will depend on your dragon but age will play a large effect in that too. A younger dragon will shed more often then a larger dragon from what Ive seen. A juvenile can shed often considering the amount of growth spurts, a sub adult under 3 years can shed as many times as 3-5 times a year on average decreasing as their older to just 1-2 times a year if that. This is just from personal experience. They can shed in one spot like their head or tails, then go into full body shed, they dont always do a fully body shed right away.

As fas as not eating goes its possibly. I have some dragons that seem to stay in their hide away more some that dont seem to care.

Hope that helps :)

yeah thanks both, he doesn't seem to eat as much as my female does therefore not pooping for days on end.

He seems happy with just 3-5 hoppers every other day and some veg every day, whilst my female will eat 10+ in one go, she doesn't even wait for them to get out of the tub, she takes them from inside

Thanks again

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
