To begin with I never provided any variety in the live feeders my guy eats. I couldn't convince my parents that insects weren't going to overrun the house so we stuck solely to crickets. However, after a lot of time, my parents have agreed to me keeping pretty much any insect around the house so long as I don't breed them. It's a liveable agreement for sure and Zeke is loving the variety of worms he has been getting (BIG worm guy). Anyways, I'm wondering how often should I break from his staple feeder and basically mix it up?
As of right now, I've been doing one day of staple, then the next of whatever other feeder I have on hand as long as the spare feeder is one that lives fairly long. For hornworms we pretty much do them day after day so they don't sit around and get all massive. I do this until I use up this secondary feeder and then we go pretty long blocks with only the staple on hand (about a month between new and exciting feeders). Is this fine or should I mix it up more?

On another note, we are gearing up to try silkworms. However, I'm wondering how long to they stay alive. Zeke eats about 5 big worms a day so we definately move through feeders well enough. I just don't want to buy a sizable amount only to have most of them die off before I can feed them.
