Hello, guys, i started this thread to get a feel from you guys to see how often your beardies will have a bowel movement? My Vet who's a reptile expert, said they can go up to 14 days with no Bowel Movements and be perfectly healthy, but this topic worries me a lot...

Ace, my beardie, is about a year old. he used to have bowel movements every day, but as he grew older his bowel movements spread further apart, now he has been having bowel movements anywhere from every 5 days, to a every week and a half. is this normal for them?

i feed him a salad that consists of, Collard Greens, Mustard Greens and Squash dusted with calcium powder every day, sometimes i'll throw in carrots, or some fruits, like raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, pears, or apples. As for live food he will eat anywhere from 15 to 20 Pheonix Worms per day, once a week i will dust the Pheonix worms with Multi-Vitamin. i used to feed him crickets, but around the time his bowel movement started spreading further apart, i decided to make the change to these as a staple since Pheonix Worms (aka ReptiWorms) are so much healthier.

his tank set up is as follows: a 40 gal tank, Slate Tile substrate, reptisun 10.0 uvb, 100w basking lamp with a dimmer, a coiled cool bulb just for lighting, his basking spot goes up to 107 degrees, and his cool side is around 79 degrees, his humidity is at about 25-30 percent. i bathe him 2 to 4 times a week depending on how he poops. am i doing anything wrong?. is this normal bowel movement behavior for them? any info will help.

SO GO AHEAD AND POST YOUR ANSWERS, LET EVERYONE AND MYSELF KNOW HOW OFTEN YOUR BEARDED DRAGON HAS A BOWEL MOVEMENT.

THANK YOU!!!

I'll tell ya!! LOL!! Puff my big girl,1 year old,19 1/2 inches, 685g. goes poo everyday, once a day. Deuce, my new boy, 1 year old, 20 inches and 569g and growing, he can go 2 x day, depending on how much he has ate.

I'm not an expert, all I can tell you is my dragon is a 2 1/2 year old male and he poops approximately once a week. I swear I don't work for the company or anything, but I really like Pet Authority's Acidophiluz+ when he isn't "regular". It's a digestive conditioner & supplement made for lizards... it has similar pro-biotics as yogurt but it's non dairy. My lizard LOVES it ...a little too much ! Be careful if you do get it, I recently had a scare because he got so excited to get his "juice" he bit off the tip of the dropper and swallowed it! Plain canned pumpkin is another treat that can help them to go and my dragon enjoys it too.

When my guy (19 Months ish) was shedding i bathed him every day and he pooped every other day. I noticed he had larger poops when he ate more veggies. Now he wont poop in his viv, only wanting to go in the bath and will wait up to a week for me to bathe him before he'll reluctantly go in his viv.

Socrates, my 10 month old, poops once a day. Archimedes, my 5 year old rescue poops every other day, sometimes every 3 days. My Rex, RIP, pooped every day or every other day up until he passed at 10 years old.

My Nim. Which I estimate he is four months old, poops once a day. Sometimes two times a day if he eats a lot. Hope this helps! :D

Awesome guys!! :D thanx for the responses. I see some of your beardies are just like mine... But for the most part, their personalities and habits are all so different...

I had the same question, so glad to read your post. 2-year old Bob came to us 10 days ago and has only pooped twice (day 2 and day 5, so it has been 5 days since his last poop!). I had heard that they should poop daily, so it had me worried, but I am glad to hear that a reptile expert told you it is normal for them to go long periods without pooping. He is doing everything else that he should: eats 24 crickets about 2x/week and salad each day, though not a lot. Has pretty runny, smelly stools, though. Had not planned on that! lol

Wait, runny smelly stools may mean parasites. Beardie poos are supposed to be nicely formed and smell slightly. Have you taken Bob to the vet?

Please see my other post asking what is normal, and whether preventative parasite meds make sense.

Best thing to do is take him in to the Vet and make sure you collect his most recent poop dropping, when I took my little guy in, they did a fecal exam and found that he had worms, so they gave me Panacur to administer for a few days.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
