How Much Greens?

We are proud new owners of a 4yr old beardie. He is eating pretty good, but it seems like he only eats the greens we give him about every other day. I'm wondering if we are giving too much and he eats lots one day but doesn't want any the next. So, how much greens do you guys give your adult beardies each day? We know that about 80% of their diet is veggies, and about 80% of their veggies should be greens, just trying to sort out how much to offer each day so we're not wasting. Thanks.

You want to aim for a salad that's about 80% leafy greens with the rest being a variety of veggies and a bit of fruit for variety. How much to give each day seems to vary from dragon to dragon. My girl starts off with a handful of salad in her bowl (1/2 to 3/4 of a cup I'd guess... I have fairly normal sized hands for a girl, haha). Some days she ignores it, and other days she'll empty her bowl so I give her a refill.
If you're seeing a pattern with your guy, you could always just offer him a larger salad one day, and then a smaller salad the next since you know he's likely to ignore it, and continue rotating like that. It's a matter of getting to know your dragon and their habits, and then working around that. They're pretty good at training us people to get their needs met ;)

Hello,

Congrats on your new beardie!!! I have a 5 yr old beardie and I have to say she is a bit finicky when it comes to eating. I give her about a small saucer of veggies daily. That is usually 1-2 leaves of mustard or collard greens(ripped up) and some sliced up squash(or other veggie). She has never been a big eater and there are days where she refuses to eat those veggies. I just keep giving them to her and she eats them when she's good and ready. Sometimes if I hand them to her she'll eat them(spoiled brat). He'll eat when he is hungry, don't worry too much if he misses a day of veggies. Just in case you don't already have the food list, here it is http://www.beautifuldragons.503xtreme.com/Nutrition.html
Good luck with the feeding!

Dawn :D

All depends on the beardie! My one BD will seriously eat 2 or 3 bowls of greens a day (not a huge fan of worms atm tho) and I just give her as much as she likes. My other BD isn't huge into greens and will eat a small bowl a day if Im lucky.

This is what I would suggest.

What seem to be his favorites so far in his salad?

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
