Hey guys, I have a bearded dragon, I think he is almost one and a half years old. When he was a baby he didn't receive enough protein, (my bad I had been misinformed by pet stores/other owners) so he was eating like 15 insects a day when it should have been like 40, (also was supplying the necessary vegetables and fruit) anyways then when I learned he needed more protein I upped his insects to 25-40 per day, but now that hes gotten older and isn't a baby anymore I'm not sure how many insects to give him. I give him daily organic chard and/or organic collard greens, he eats it right up.
I've started giving him freeze dried crickets, I have been giving him reptiworms for a very long time and he's averaging 20-40 per day but they were too expensive and they kept dying out on me/turning into flies, live feeders are a real pain. So I am ecstatic that he loves freeze dried crickets and will eat them out of the bowl.
So how many freeze dried should I give him per day? And should I dust them with calcium? They are the flukers brand, they seem to be very good nutritionally and it says they have been pre gutloaded with calcium. I've heard the "give them as many as he eats in 5 minutes" but if I do that he'll eat like 70 insects at a time which seems like too much
