We recently got a new 8 month old dragon - a gorgeous red leatherback from Rainbow Bearded Dragons. He is awesome, and LOVES to eat. However, he loves to eat so much that I'm wondering how much food he really needs.
Our philosophy so far has been to let him eat as much as he wants to help him grow. That's what the breeder's care sheet says as well. Seems like a good philosophy - however, he ate 40 dubias (1/2" to 1") in the first day! Since then it's been less - usually up to 15-20 dubias a day. But I feel like he'd keep eating even more if I left the roaches in there longer than 15 minutes. He doesn't appear to be obese and still has good energy.
So my question is, is there an upper limit to the number of roaches they really need/should have in a day? Or do I just let him go to town to help him grow?
I think I'm going to need to breed dubias.
