How long?

I bought a 20 adult dubia beeder pack. I was told in about a month they would start having babies. I have 3 baby dragons, so how long do I have before I have to start worrying about what to do with all the extra roaches? I get the chills every time I move the egg crate and hear these nasty things crawl.. lol

You'll get used to your dubia. After 1 month they will really not gross you out at all. As for any perceived excess of roaches, to be honest you really shouldn't even be thinking of feeding out of your dubia colony at this juncture. You should leave it alone for at least 3 months — on the short end — but more like 6 months to be honest. That will give the colony time to establish itself and populate. Otherwise if you feed out of the colony right now or anytime soon, you'll be either purchasing more dubia or back to buying crickets. Also, if your 3 beardies are babies they are not big enough to eat adult dubia now anyway. So even if you'd like to feed now you'd have to wait until nymphs are born.

They can eat the babies, as long as you go by the rule of 'not longer than the width of their eyes'. However, if you're trying to start a colony I'd recommend you leave it be for at least 6 months. Each female gives birth 1 time per month and has about 20 babies, that's about 300 babies per month (if you have 15 females). Those 300 babies will take about 6 months to reach maturity. Just leave them be and keep them warm

I know what you mean about the sound though, my bin sits in my closet in my room and during the night I hear them crawling about Doesn't bother me anymore like it used to And you think it's bad now? Wait until you have 1,000+ roaches haha

I didnt realize they take six months to mature and reproduce. I only want pet dragons not pet roaches. Lol I will give them a couple months and see how they do. From the sounds of it though, Dubai aren't for me. I guess I'll have to get used to some stanking crickets.
