How long dd it take

Hey All,
I have had my girl for about 2 months maybe more now and I am wondering how long it will take before she actually wants me to pick her up. She is ok and doesnt hide from me but when I go to initially pick her up she runs off my hand a bit. Other than that she is ok and when I have her in my hands she is ok but still seems skittish. She is about 11 inches but I do not know her age can't be more than 3 or 4 months. What has been your experience?

That's a good start. Keep that up and in time she should warm up to you. At least she's not biting and bearding you, lol. Most will warm up to their owners in time, even if it takes a few weeks, or even months. Hope this helps

The best time to get your beardie comfortable with you is when they are sleepy. You can usually easily remove them from their viv then and cuddle them on your chest or some wrap them up in a towel like a burrito. In this way, they get used to your scent and touch. Some people also put a t-shirt they've worn inside the dragons viv to get them used to your scent that way. My dragon is 20 weeks and about 12 inches: he has enjoyed being held for the last few months. Sometimes he wants me to put him down so he can explore but he isn't nervous at all about me. He seems to beckon me to get him out of the viv by standing on his back legs and pressing his front feet and nose against the glass.

Thanks Guys,
Unfortunately by the time I get home she is probably been asleep for a good 2 hours so I am not sure if I should wake her up. I usually scoop her up with one hand but I dont think that matters. I guess It takes a little more time I was under the impression they become accustomed quickly. I try to put her on my shoulder sometimes it works but sometimes she crawls down my back lol. So I have to lay down so she doesnt fall I probably look pretty funny. I hope one day she will press against the glass for me wanting to come out.

i think a good idea for when you come home to your little one sleeping would be to take off an article of clothing and scoop her up, wrap her up in the clothes, and set her back down in the cage in a comfy spot. That way she can get used to your scent, and you won't bug her too much. She will go right back to sleep =D

I am going to try the t shirt thing thats a great idea. Last night I found her laying on top of a log with her head hanging off lol I looked and said how is that comfortable?? I woke up this morning and every morning recently to her staring at me haha

Yes, mine will sleep weird....like standing up pressed against the glass. Because our first BD died after being with us for just a week, I have taken to checking on him at about 3am. I wish they didn't sleep so heavily (someone actually outdoes me now!) and breath so shallowly at that time. The first few nights I stuck my hand in to see if he was warm and sat there with a little flashlight until I saw him breath.

mine loves to be heald ever since the day i broght him home.
he expecially LOVES it at night right before bed 9-9:30ish normally i'll hold him for about 30mins to 2 hours depending on the day
he is only a few months old i think he is about 7inches long and loves to lay on my finger with his back feet spread behind him and me rubbing down his spine he even wakes up and gets cranky when i stop petting him
i guess dependes on the beardie
maybe try a little at a time and keep increasing as yall feel comfortable
maybe start small and everytime you reach inside their cage pet them get them used to your smell and touch
maybe also try adding a old shirt so they will get used to your scent

She seems to be doing better. I really appreciate the comments. I am going to put a shirt in there for her to sleep with and see what that does. She hasnt really tried to run out of my hands at all so it could have been a phase. I do try to spend more time with her its tough beause I work the 3-11 shift.

Just don't get disheartened if it happens again. Sometimes it takes quite a bit of time and patience.

Hi, right now as I type I am trying the burrito in an old t-shirt of my mine with my beardie and it is working like a charm My Draco (or my owner) has been slow to warm up to me bu I think I'm just impatient. But I really liked this post and all the helpful hints.
