how long can i go without feeding to try to get one to eat

im trying to get all my dragons switched over to roaches as a main staple for daily feeding, now i have one who refuses any and all insects period (see my other thread) and another guy who would just assume starve himself then eat anything but superworms (i regret ever feeding him in the superworms in the first place because now he refuses anything else except an occasional roach here or there). my females are so easy lol they eat anything and everything i give them no complaints at all. my males are the most pain in the neck eaters i have ever seen.

i know what the answer is generally to just stop feeding them to him. okay.. but how long can i let him really go without actually eating? and do i not feed him salads during that time as well? i feel terrible even going one day it just seems mean to me. but i know i have to. so how long before i need to really worry without him eating till he decided he cant starve anymore and starts eating the roaches? or could he never eat them and end up starving himself out?

im still newer to this and learning everything i can as quickly as possible. thank you to anyone who responds. im trying to tell myself its the right thing to do to get them eating right but i just feel terrible not feeding them.

I'm no expert so a more experienced opinion may be much more helpful. I personally would still offer salads. If your dragons are still growing one day isn't the end of the world but it still isn't good for them to go without protein as they need it to grow. Super worms can be addictive to some dragons so your guy may just be protesting to get what he wants lol they can be so stubborn. I would try hand feeding him other things and sitting insects right in front of him to see if he will take them. If not, after a few days I would give him what he wants just so he will eat especially if he is growing! But I would do so in moderation and keep offering the new feeder until he comes around. I'm not sure how long is to long exactly for an adult although even than I wouldn't want them to go days without food. As for babies and juveniles they need plenty of protein and even a day with out isn't the greatest. Don't starve them but also don't give up. Maybe just try a different method like hand feeding and even a superworm and than the new feeder to get them going. They will eventually come around. I wish you the best of luck with your guys!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
