I'm beginning to wonder if it gets to hot in the tank at night some nights. Sometimes Zilla falls asleep on his stuffie, which is not directly under the CHE. Sometimes I cover him, sometimes not. (Usually depends on how bright the living room will be for awhile.)
Last night, he fell asleep on me, so when it was time to put him in his tank, I put his mattress and pillow on the floor and stretched him out on it. I was about to cover him up when I realized he was under the CHE on that part of the floor. I did cover him anyway, but wondered how I could measure how hot/cold HE is under there? The thermometer on the glass towards the floor sort of under the CHE reads 68 at night. Although, come to think of it, I think it rises to about 78 after the CHE turns on.... I'll pay attention to that tonight.
I do have a probe thermometer on his basking log. Should I move that and lay it on his back and cover him with a blanket and check his temp that way? Or put it under his belly?
I don't want him to be uncomfortable while sleeping. But have no idea how to be sure.
Thanks!!!
