I've read many times that squash is really good for beardies and I've wanted to give some to Gork for a while. However, the only thing holding me back is I'm not sure how to prepare it, or if I even need to. I've never even had squash myself. Could anybody tell me how they prepare squash for their beardies?

I cut my butternut squash in half...clean out all the strings and the seeds. Then wrap in 2 seperate saran wraps and put in the microwave for about 7-8 minutes. Then let cool a little unwrap and peel it....it should come off super easy. Take the actual meat of it and put it in a bowl and mash it and then you can store it in the fridge up to a week . You can take a little everyday and put in with the salad!!

Ahhh, thanks for this... I am not great in the kitchen and have a hell of a time figuring out how to prepare the squash! Prudence LOVES her squash. I was cutting in half, scooping out the strings and seeds, then wrestled around with it to cut up pieces! This method seems really good!!

Do all kinds of squash need to be peeled? I feed Lando a Cucurbita squash (think that's what it's called, anyway) and I've never peeled it.

I use the same pealer that i use to take off the skin on the butternut squash to shave off thin pieces of squash, i like this better than having to grate it, its bigger pieces and easier for the dragon to pick up

I recently bought a butternut squash. I assume I do not grate that since I've been told not to peel it?

you have to peal away the hard skin on the butternut squash. then i use the pealer to get thin slices of the squash for the dragons, don't have to cook it or anything.I actually believe if you cook it, it looses all the nutrition

Wow I thought I read somewhere that you have to cook it. Holy smokes....I was like geez...everybody elses beardies love squash and mine wont touch it. Maybe that is why...lol. Hmmmmm...well I will try it raw next time.

Although I've read (basically) everywhere that beardies LOVE squash, my guy is not the hugest fan. He will pick out a few pieces with gusto for like a day, then he will tire of it & be on to a new kick. But that seems to be normal for him. (Blueberries for a day.. Chicory tomorrow.. Carrots for a minute..) At any rate I find grating it over his salad is the way to make sure he gets some. As he's picking out his favorites, he has no choice but to get a bit. :)

Nope, just give it to them raw. It has a sweet smell i think that's why they like it so much. :D Mine will pick out all the squash from their salad first then look up to me as to ask... MORE!?!?

I gave Gork some butternut squash today; I cut little bits of it up raw and put it on top of his dandelion greens. His appetite for greens hasn't been as big lately, though I think that's because he's started shedding again. Anyway, despite not eating much of the greens, he seemed to love the squash. I cut up quite a bit and there isn't much left of it. Thanks everybody for your suggestions :)

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
