I bought a couple of used tanks this weekend. Both of them have tube light fixtures. I usually use MV bulbs and domes, but since I have them I figured I'd use them. One tank is a 20 gal long and the other is a 40 gal breeder. Both have screen mesh tops, the 40 gal have a split hinge type cover. It is cramped with the dome heat lamp.... So I wanted to try and put the UVB tubes inside the enclosures. Safely, with out the possibility of the fixture falling.

I wanted some ideas on how to do it. One is a fish tank type light fixture. The other is a white plastic one. I thought about hanging metal off the side and placing them on top, but that would interfere with the lids. And that was as far as my ideas went :(

I noticed in the viv pic section a lot of people managed to get them in there, but I didn't find out how. I saw some people on another thread suggested kitty cornering the UVB, but I feel like the dragon wont be able to get as much UVB since it will be basking so much under the heat bulb. Do they still get enough??

The bulbs are 10.0 reptisun's.

alot of people use velcro tape, some use metal brackets. I personally have a raptile one enclosure that has bars across the top so i can lower my uvb fixutre with shoelaces.

I tried tying a hood lamp once to a lid, it didn't go over so well... I think I like the idea of velco, you can find that at home depot or Lowes right? And how would you get the metal brackets in there??

Thanks!

What I did is I went to wal-mart and I bought the tube light fixture for $8 ea. then I went to staples and I bought a pack of INDUSTRIAL STRENGTH velcro (at home depot and lowes the velcro was wayyyy to expensive. lol) I have not changed the velcro ever since!

I first got regular velcro strips from wal-mart and I thought about using super glue on it since I basically fix everything with super glue but I thought about it and I decided that in the future I would want to sell the tank so I didn't do it!

Well I guess that thing is never coming down lol.

I got a $50 heat/uvb bulb which is awesome because it just screws into the lamp fixture. They claim it can last 2 years so I replace it after 1.

I've never heard of using velcro before but it would have to be some strong velcro if you want it to last a while and hold it up there. Sounds like a good idea.

I used regular velcro and it would fall every 2-3 days until I changed it to INDUSTRIAL strength velcro! I have had it up now for about 9 months since I put it up with the industrial strength velcro!

I wanted to know what Heat/UVB bulb was it that you buy? I have been looking into some but I cant find anything... atleast none in the U.S.

has that caused your beardie any eye problems?

All of my MVB are powersun's and I have never had any eye issues. I just ordered some t-rex active uv bulbs that should be here next week, I think they were $42-$43. Anyways, I have heard that they are better...

I use Zoo Meds hood fixtures, they sit perfectly on top of my terrariums.

The only problem with those hood fixtures is what some others have poster which is that since the light is going through the mesh the amount of UVB delivered is considerably reduced.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
