Whether it has carpet, tiles, tissue or just glass as substrate, how do you clean your heavy 40+ gal tank?

I have a 40 gal breeder and lifting it out of the corner is VERY difficult. It's in a little nook and takes a while to remove and put it back. Once its out, i take it out and wash and soap it. It's time consuming!

your best bet is lay tile down that way u can spot clean the tiles

and buy a steamer much easier

clean tiles+ steam u should be fine

i've been wondering the same thing what i came up is a 1/4 bleach with deteregent solution and water let it sit for 15 minutes and wipe clean they also have some sprays out ttheir but don't go buy some expensive steamer

You can buy a handheld steam cleaner for $25. This way you don't have to worry about the harmful vapors of bleach lingering in your animal's enclosure. Some things (coccidia or adeno I think, not sure) are not killed by bleach, but the high temp. of steam kills it. Not to mention the steam dries immediatly :blob5:

so ANY steam cleaner will work? i can't find a $25 one but theres a $39 one (it's a really small handheld) at walmart.

yeap. i still have to figure out the dimensions for the tile. I have a 40 gal breeder and not sure if i should go piece by piece or couple big ones.

Just keep in mind that a '12" X 12"' tile isn't really 12" X 12", generally they're 1/8" - 1/4" shorter to accomodate grout, so measure the tiles when you get to the store :)

Yeah, most of us put paper towel or something down first then just lay the tiles in, some people actually grout them in, either way works but I like to be able to remove the tiles :)

what brand of steam cleaners do you guys have? i looked at target, walmart, home depot and all have very confusing reviews (didn't have it in stores. Had to order online and they were going to deliver it to the store). I feel like some of those reviews came from the company (steam cleaner company) itself to promote it and some are real people who disappointed in the product.

Where did you get yours and how much?

I got my shark hand steamer at bed bath and beyond the only store that had them in stock. Target and Walmart only had them online. I payed 60 bucks but it came with a ton of accessories that i will never use lol.

when did u get it and how long has it been since then? has the steam pressure been pretty much the same since you got it? i hear that over time it becomes weak and it just sprays water, not steam. Exactly, was going to try bed bath and beyond since they were the the only ones that had them in stores. Others had to be ordered online.

just bought me the shark steam cleaner. $80. expensive... lol this thing better last me for years.
