Ok, I dont know if this should be in the feeder section or not.. my apologies if it should..
anyways, I purchase 1000 crickets from Georgia Crickets. I ordered 3/8, which I have been purchasing locally for some time. Well they were much smaller then anticipated, but oh well..
I had 50 DOA, no big deal. Some were taking longer to *wake* from being cold then others. As it was chilly by the time UPS arrived and their heat pack had long since gone cold.
I received my crickets Wednesday Evening. They are houses in a 38 Gallon Rubbermaid ToughNeck or is it Roughneck? container. The lid is screened in the middle, they have 6 full egg flats, plus 6-7 smaller pieces to allow for easier capture lol.
A small dish which contains water crystals, some fluker cricket food(not much because I am low), I ground up some dog food(high protein) and put it in a small container, and rotate out some fresh veggies daily.
I have been keeping up to 500 crickets at a time in this set up, NEVER having any real die off, maybe 1 or 2 in a months time.
Well it is now Monday morning(midday) and out of my 1000 crickets(-50 DOA and 150 I fed) I now have 200 crickets remaining. The rest are dEAD! they have been dying all weekend.
I don't know what to do, as this was my only real food purchase for my dragons this month as things are very tight.
I emailed Allison at Premium Crickets, and the only thing I received back was, make sure their is no calcium in the flukers food, it can kill them, and I dont know why they are dying..
I am VERY displeased, and don't know what to do.. There is NO reason for them to be dying off.. I have NEVER had die off..
