How can I slowly get my boyfriend's beardie to warm up to me

My boyfriend and I have been dating for two years and recently moved in together. He has a handsome beardie named Bruce Wade (the boyfriend is a batman and deadpool fan). He gets very possessive over him and I don't want to stress him out. I held him but he scurries out of my hands so I place him on my lap but he pooped on me, haha. But I've always wanted a beardie and I don't want Bruce Wade to be stressed when I'm around more. Any tips?

I've heard that putting an article of your clothing in the enclosure can help them get used to your scent. It may help for when you pick him up so you aren't a new scent anymore and he may relax a bit faster.

That is true what SandP said and they do usually bond w/ the person that takes care of them the most-but your smell will help as well---
