How active should bearded dragons be?

My bearded dragon never seems to leave the hot side of his room. He basks in the mourning and then chills there with sexy legs and then about an hour before sleep time he will go in his hide and scratch. Thats about it. He goes nuts of his food tho and his belly is always white , except for bed time i think he wants to go to sleep earlier than i let him. I guess I am wondering how active your guys beardie is and really what else is there for them to do?

Thats about it. Mine do just that everyday only time they move is feeding time and roam time. Except my males they tend to get hormonal and will pace around some.

That's all mine does. He basks... poops... eats his salad... and goes nuts for crickets/roaches... basks some more. The only time he's really active is when I'm holding him. Then all of a sudden he wants to run all over the place.

Same here, except my roach bin is underneath my Beardie's enclosure so sometimes when they're active she can hear them so she'll dart to the front of her viv and try to run through the glass to get at them. She especially loses it when I open the cabinet doors to get the bin out. Once I had her doors open when I was getting her roaches ready, pulled out my bin and she dove out of her viv in attempt to get into the roach bin. Luckily (for the roaches) I caught her mid-air and put her back and closed her doors. She'll also wander her viv occasionally when she gets sick of basking for a bit but I've never seen her roam about more than maybe 10 minutes at a time... and the occasional glass dance when she wants out (she sees me come in and knows I give her what she wants).

Great Topic! I was going to ask the same thing. Mine just stares at me & the people who walk in the room. He really gets energetic when he's on the lose. (Inside the house not outside).

I was wondering about this too. My dragon, CaptainJack, doesn't do much during the day (which is fine lol). but he takes a lot of naps. usually when my bf gets home from work at like 3pm they'll both take a nap until i get home at 6ish. But then Jack's ready for bed again by like 8.

For summer time lights are on for 14 hrs ,off for 10 and winter its 12 hrs on and 12 hrs off. In that time they bask about 85 to 90% of the day the rest is moving back in forth from hot to cold. Keeping themselfs at a comfy warmth lvl. Unless they go into brumation then they can sleep pretty much 24/7 rather the lights are on and off. That happens usually Nov-Feb. The Spring time is when they go nuts. Its mating season so both male and females will be super active. Poor males tho they have it the worst i think. If you have tile flooring in the viv thats a good time to switch it for the non sticky shelf liner because they will wear the nails down. I give mine about a hour each out of viv time for exersize. Then you have your spoiled rotten beardies who never move a inch unless moved lol

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
