hi my name is Michael,

so i just adopted two baby beardies and nursed them back to health (elvis & marley) i kno pet store r full of crap and have no idea how to take care of animals i used the thermostat i bought on their inclosure to see if it worked before i left. it was only 5 gal had no uvb and was only 75 degrees i wanted to run off with every baby beard in there they looked sad and huddled togther horrible sight for a animal lover like myself they evn gave me sand for my beardies im new and kno about them gettin it stuck in their digestive system.
but back to what i need to kno i adopted two which they said came together and have been together since thye came in.well i have tried to save money CL for the viv 55 gal i could only afford the zill 50uvb t8 uvb lamp i kno it sucks but until next fri i can get my reptisun 10 its have to do i have a fluker basking lamp 150w with a 150w basking bulb started a cricket colony(can use advice on this also) newspaper down a desert rock hide water dish they can fully submerge in they have been flourishing running around climbing theyre trees and basking and eating until thyre bellies r full then poopin somethin fierce lol so bad for such little lizards. i have already grown to love these guys soo much!
so heres where im concerned the ppl at petco (where i adopted them) told me they have been together this whole time and will be fine together unless they r both male then i WILL have no choice to separate them i dont kno theyre ages im guessin 3m but one is 6" and one is 8ish about double the size of marley the smaller one. i kno when theyre grown im gonna build a 7ft-8ft viv for them. theyre cute the little one sits on the bigger ones back and ride him/her around and elvis just doesnt seem to care they look like they really dont mind eachother and seem to enjoy eachother any worries i can have since i wanna handle them more before i pull them out of theyre habitat because theyre trust isnt given its earned and god forbid they jump and get hurt or lost and then found by my cat or my pitbull wants to play with them. i hand feed 20-30 plus crickets each twice a day they eat theyre romain heart with only the leaves no stem celerie part and i chop and spray it every day and hand feed that w/ crickets. they seem to be thriving i just cant get over them possibly hurting one another but so far they havent shown any agression besides knockin eachoyher out the way while feeding but i usually have them at opposite ends of the tank so they dont feel like they r competing for food. i kno there r some situations where two or three live together w/o losing toes tales or lives. what should i do i have a small hous two 55 gal would take up my front room any advice tips tricks? anything u wanna say to a newb like me i did my research before i got them but neglected to read about multiples in one viv my fault anything helps and thanks if u read this all the way thru to these last few words here lol thanks!!!

If I'm reading you correctly, you're wondering if it would be a good idea to keep those two together? I would then refer you to this posting:

I would skip the 55 gallon tank, and go for the 40 gallon breeder. The 55 gallon, while longer, is also narrower and could potentially give a harder time for your bearded dragon when he wants to turn. The 40 gallon is wider (18") so it leaves plenty of room. Best advice I could give you is to separate them ASAP, because I have heard many stories and seen many pictures of babies and even adults who have lost toes and tips of tails to cage-mates, a condition which was entirely preventable. Maybe if you can't keep 2 tanks in your house, you could just keep one and return the other?

Also, if I'm reading you correctly, you're feeding them romaine? I'd stop that and buy something darker, such as mustard greens or turnip greens, for a staple green, which is a lot more nutritious. Follow this website for vegetable information:

I know that adopting one out was a huge decision. I want to say THANK YOU for doing the responsible thing and not housing them together, even though that meant rehoming one. You're one beardie now will be so much less stressed and so much more spoiled! And it sounds like you found an awesome home for the other one. Enjoy Elvis and post pictures when you can! We'd love to see him!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
