Housing and Dragons

I am so sick and tired of TECHNICALLY not being allowed to keep my Bearded dragon!

BEGIN RANT\
I am in the process of moving from an apartment to a single family detached home, more specifically in the midst of buying a home. Unfortunately I have the penchant for digging into the most mundane of laws\rules and discovering that almost every HOA in my area will only allow animals which A) don't increase insurance rates (includes dogs BTW) and B) will only allow "domestic household pets" annoyingly I am familiar with the legal definition of "domestic household pet" due to my current lease which also disallows bearded dragons (but hey management don't care). Current US definition of domestic household pet is cats, dogs, rodents, rabbits, turtles, fish, and birds excluding poultry, potbellied pigs, lizards, and snakes. I'm finding it hard to believe that everywhere near me in the state of TEXAS (THE STATE THAT ALLOWS YOU TO BUY BABY TIGERS FOR GOD'S SAKES!) technically banns ownership of lizards and snakes.

I know many many people who own snakes and lizards and found technically they could be finned for owning them by their HOA or county. I'm not scared that I will be fined for having my dragon in the confines of my own property but makes me really pissed that technically I COULD be if some busy body know-it-all were to tattle on me and have the HOA fine me. I may be a know-it-all but I'm not going to tattle on you for something as mundane as a barking dog, owning a dog which raises home owners insurance rates, or having a 5 foot pink hippo in your front yard. The only way I'm going to enforce ordinances (by yelling at you and calling the cops if you don't stop) is if it seriously effects the enjoyment of my home - such as the time someone was throwing iron horse shoes at my side fence next to my bedroom window at 1AM Monday morning. So I would hope no one in my community would or could possibly complain about having a 1 pound lizard in a terrarium inside my house.
\END RANT

Am I overreacting or is it actually cow turds that the law is written that homeowners in this community can't have bearded dragons within their own homes?
I plan on sitting in on the HOA meeting of the neighborhood I plan to move to and get a feel for whether they will care or not. Even if they do care I'll just be sure not to walk my dragon in their community parks and they'll never know.

How does this entity have any say over what kind of pet you have in a private home? That seems odd. I know apartments and apartment management companies have rules in place against pets in some cases but I figure those are both to protect their investment against possible damage from animals and to give them an out if they want to boot someone from a rental they can point to the rule and hold the renter in violation. From what I've seen the apartment management companies don't care about dragons as they don't pose a threat to damage the property but I'm sure that varies across the board. I would think this is even less of an issue in a privately owned home.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
