So i have been breeding leopard geckos, cresties, monitors, various pythons for a few years now. And i just got into beardies. So i have two pairs of really nice beardies not sure what morphs exactly i will try and show photos later. Based on reading and some of the pet stores around me i thought it was ok to house mult. beardies together in one enclosure male and female? Correct me if im wrong. would it be ok to house my females together in a 110gallon and individually house my two males? One of my females has already laid her first clutch and the other is not gravid yet? Once bred and laying eggs should the female see the male again during the breeding season or no?
Thanks guys
It is not ok to house multiple beardies together in one enclosure. The only time male and female should be together is during the mating act itself. After that they should be separated.
Housing females can get just as harried because of stress issues. They can be ok with each other in the beginning and the next thing you know they can attack, maim and even kill each other. If you house your two males together you're running the risk of them killing each other no matter what. No dragon should be housed with each other. They are solitary creatures and do/should not be housed together.
I would take the 110 gallon that you have and split it down the middle.
I wouldn't put the female back together with the male after laying eggs, because females can retain sperm, they shouldn't need to be bred again because of this.
