Housing 2 bearded dragons

Thank you everyone, I decided not to get another beardie I dont want to harm my current one or cause stress between them



I am debating if i should get another bearded dragon. My current one is a female and about a year of age. Would you suggest a female or a male? And what experiences have you had while housing 2 or more bearded dragons. My current female is very tame and the tank she is in a 4 foot by 2 foot by 2foot, would this be able to house 2 dragons?

Also should I try to get one around the same age and size?

Also I have a old 40 gallon breeder tank, Should I try and keep the new dragon in there first and try to edge him/her off in to the 4 foot by 2 foot by 2 foot cage?

Also If i were to get another bearded dragon should i try and get one soon or would it be alright to wait like 2-6 months

And what are the chances they will mate if i get a male?

also what are the cost for incubator and stuff for the babies if they were to mate?

its NOT a good idea to house beardies together bearded dragons are solitary animals they dont do well together they will fight for territory and a male could possibly over breed her, stress her out, and possibly kill her.

what about a female, I was going to go to the pet store close by where they have about 8 bearded dragons all together in a tank (adult ones) for sale. Should i try to get one that is use to being with other beardies?

Im still deciding if im getting another one

Female can fight and kill each other too. You will find very few people on this site who agree with housing dragons together. There is always a chance of a fight, its just too big of a risk.

females will fight for territory too and even if they dont fight one could dominate the other causing the dominated one to get sick from the stress

I ask the same question I have asked several times already, why risk the safety even on the smallest chance something can go wrong? They are animals, as much has we love them and as sweet as they can be they still have instincts that they cannot ignore and it's our jobs as owners to care for them, do what's best and protect them from harm and if they kill each other then we are responsible for that death. Better safe than sorry.

now i've commented on similar posts, but their dragons came together and were babies. IF, big IF, if you were going to try housing 2 females, only possible way from what i've heard, they need to be from the same clutch. Introducing 2 adult females could very well turn into a cat fight so to speak. I've heard a few cases of this not happening, but mostly i hear of severed limbs and such.
Just my 2 cents
