Household light bulbs?

I was wondering if anyone uses household light bulbs? My fixture fell and the bulb broke, no pet shop in my area has any basking bulbs with the wattage that I need, I'm using a household bulb for now until I can replace it. If i get the temps
right would be ok to stay with it?

Most definitely.. We actually recommend using the household bulbs b/c the basking spot lights are over priced and don't last very long.. I use a GE Indoor Flood bulb from walmart.. Works just fine.. U can also use the Halogen bulbs if u need the extra heat..

Can you tell me the wattage your using, I'm using a standard household 100 watt but his basking spot isn't passing 89 degrees. I have a digi thermo with probe so I'm pretty sure its accurate,basking spot is about 8-10 inches from the fixture.

Well it really depends on your enclosure bc I use a 45w but u may want to try a halogen bulb bc those give off more heat... It's pretty much trial and error..

No prob.. Just remember if you beardie is a baby u really need to get those temps up to 105-110

100W works well for my tanks.

I use a 60w. but then again my apartment is kept at 70F, so that might help with the temps. Also, if he is on a wall that is connected to the outside or near a window that might effect the temps a little. Especially with the freak winter we have been having.

I use a 150 or 200 watt (depending on the time of the year) clear household bulb for my 4x2x2 terrarium.
