ever look at the sun? The fact that your basking light is so bright is a good thing. It protects the beardie from the easy to look at (but dangerous) rays of the UVB light. I'm not sure why the larger bulb is producing less heat. That's a mystery for the sages :p

So the basking area is between 100-110 right? and the other end of the tank is 75-80?

Keith, that looks just fine to me.. I think she will be fine with those temps.
So, did you get the enclosure finished ? Where's my picture ! lol

I'm confused on the part where you stated "It protects the beardie from the easy to look at (but dangerous) rays of the UVB light"

What he said is true. Even the safe tubes have the radiation from the uvb, so when you use a bright white bulb in conjunction, that protects Maizes' eyes.

Basking: 100-110
Under\around Basking (left side of tank: 85-90
Cool side: 75-80

This sounds good?

I'm a bit nervous about the clear house hold bulb, 150w or 200w. It's so bright Im afraid of it messing with her eyes.

Tank is not finished, grout wont dry. I'm either gonna try what you said or cut the tank down shorter and place new bottom. If it's totally messed up Im just gonna purchase one.

Those temps are fine, and dragons LIKE bright white lights ! The more brighter the better !
Let's just see what you end up with this time, and then think about a new viv ;)
Course, I could just build one for you and ship it ;) lol
Just kidding, the shipping would kill you !
Janie.

your temps are perfect! don't change anything. Bright is good...as someone already said do you look at the sun? nope. Why? because it's too bright. Same thing applies here...

Honestly you have things Perfect ! Take a deep breath, you have done a Grand job !
When you get that first one done, we can focus on building a second one, so you can get a new baby from Tom ;) lol

So by her not staring at the bright bulb it will keep her from looking at the UVB which will harm her? right?

yeah I guess I should have clarified. The rays are great for the beardie to soak up, but not to stare at. We go to the beach all the time and soak up rays, but the sun's so bright we don't LOOK at it. The rays that are good for our skin would damage our eyes. Just one more way God was one step ahead of us. Same deal here. You want the beardie to have the great UVB rays, but you use a very bright white light so that he doesn't stare up into the UVB and damage his little eyes. As others have said, you can breath easy and stop fretting. It seems that you have everything well under control.

OK good. Question though... do you prefer regular clear house hold bulbs or flood lights like I started out with?

depends on how much heat vs. light you need. floods transfer a lot more heat to the basking spot, less to the rest of the viv. Household bulbs don't really "push" the heat directly towards the basking spot as much, but whatever you're using right now seems to work nicely as far as temps go.

Let s just say my temps were not good. is this something I could do or too much.

Flood light at basking spot (left side)
Clear household bulb (50-100w) bulb pointing at the floor of the viv on the left
Cool area (right side) no light, just the ambiant light from UVB (reptisun)

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
